Acacia Mining seeks to employ an experienced Flight Attendant/ Administrator on a fixed term contract at our Dar es Salaam Office. This role reports to the Chief Pilot and the role holder will be accountable to attend to passengers on the Company’s Dash 8 Plane and assist with administrative tasks for the Aviation Department.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Maintaining the Avtrack system to ensure that parts are available according to the schedule expiration, and the maintenance is appropriately scheduled and performed.
• Develop flight crew schedules and monitor hours to ensure that crew is available within Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority (TCCA) regulations.
• Ensure all training, SOP’s, MEL, and other manuals are properly formatted, current and available to all flight crew.
• Monitor all services provided by Equity and other vendors to ensure they meet Acacia requirements and that they provide the best value to our business.
• Act as the Acacia contact to the TCAA as required.
• Report “no shows” on the Dash.
• Provide general support to the Aviation Operations.
• Explore opportunities to optimise the Aviation Operations.
• Ensure the safety of passengers by:
o announcing and demonstrating safety and emergency procedures such as the use of seat belts and life jackets;
o check to see that seat belts are fastened during flight take-off and landing; and
o ensure that all TCCA safety standards are followed
• Administer the flight manifest sign off ensuring that all passengers boarding the Dash 8 are authorized and have Boarding Passes.
• Answer passengers’ questions about flights, the aircraft, weather, travel routes and services, arrival times and/or schedules etc.
• Guide passengers in placing carry-on luggage in the overhead compartments or under-seat storage.
• Guide passengers while entering or disembarking the aircraft.
• Check to ensure that beverages, emergency equipment and other supplies are aboard and are in adequate supply.
• Conduct periodic trips through the cabin to ensure passengers’ comfort.
• Complying with the safety standards as set by the TCAA and the Acacia Mining safety standards.
• Determine special assistance needs of passengers and assist them accordingly.
• Direct and assist passengers in emergency situations such as evacuation, ditching, on-board fire.
• Prepare passengers and the aircraft for landing according to procedure.
• Announce flight details and descent preparations.
• Administer first aid to passengers in distress or as required.
• Inspect and clean cabins, checking for any problems and making sure that cabins are in order.
• Reassure passengers when situations such as turbulence are encountered.
• Verify that first aid kits and other emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers and oxygen bottles, are in working order.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education.
• Must have Airport Operation Course Certificate.
• Must have Flight Attendants Course Certificate and must be licensed by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority.
• Must have a valid First Aid Certificate
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Must be conversant with first aid, firefighting and emergency response situations.
• Experience with MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
• Sound knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practice and be aware of hazardous situations and be able to provide a Leadership role in emergencies as needed.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills.
