Internship Position in Information & Communication Technology Office
The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) invites applications for the
internship position from suitably qualified persons who are nationals of Tanzania to work in the
Information Technology office. The position is tenable at the ECSA Health Community Secretariat
based in Arusha.
The Organization
The ECSA-HC is a regional intergovernmental organization set up in 1974 to foster cooperation that
will lead to the strengthening of health care programmes in the region and promote attainment of
the highest possible standards of health among member states. The Member States of the ECSA
Health Community are Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia
and Zimbabwe. The Secretariat implements its activities through seven technical programmes
namely Family and Reproductive Health; Food Security and Nutrition; Health Systems and Services
Development; HIV/AIDS, T.B. and Infectious Diseases; Human Resources for Health & Capacity
Building, Monitoring and Evaluation and Research, Information and Advocacy. The Directorates of
Operations and Institutional Development and Finance provide administrative, logistical and
financial management support to the technical programmes.
Broad purpose of the Internship Programme at ECSA Health Community
To provide opportunity for which students or fresh graduates from school from various
courses may be assigned to ECSA-Health Community offices where their educational
experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments.
To expose students or fresh graduates to the work of ECSA Health Community.
Gain hands on experience in the work of ECSA Health Community with the objective of
deepening their knowledge and understanding of ECSA Health Community’s goals,
principles and activities.
To provide ECSA Health Community with the assistance of highly qualified students
specialized in various professional fields.
Eligibility for the Internship- Information & Communication Technology Office
To qualify for the ECSA Health Community Secretariat internship in Information Technology Office,
the following conditions must be met:
1. Applicants must be enrolled in a diploma, advanced diploma or a degree in any of the Information
Technology field in any tertiary institutions in Tanzania at the time of application and during the
internship or be a fresh graduate from school seeking work experience.
2. Applicants must submit an official letter from the Training Institution or his/her personal letter
requesting for an internship position.
3. Internship period should be for not less than three months and not more than six months.
4. English is the working language at ECSA Health Community. Therefore, the applicant must have
fair command of written & spoken English.
5. The intern should be ready to start work immediately.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional experience to apply for the internship but needs
to:
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of ECSA Health Community and have a
personal commitment to the ideals of ECSA Health Community; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural
backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of
differing opinions and views.
Remuneration Package
Internship is UNPAID and full-time. But ECSA-HC Management may pay a stipend of US$ 100 per
month to cater for intern’s transport and lunch while undergoing the internship.

/herself explaining their areas of interest and goals for the internship experience should reach the
