The Kilombero Valley Teak Company Ltd. (KVTC) is a forestry company located in the Kilombero and Ulanga Districts of the Morogoro Region. The Company manages an 8,000ha teak estate as well as natural woodlands. KVTC processes its teak logs in a modern sawmill and joinery plant located in the Ulanga District.
KVTC currently has two vacancies: Processing Manager and Value Adding Mill Manager
JOB TITLE: PROCESSING MANAGER
The Processing Manager is responsible for the management of the sawn timber production (sawmill) as well as further processing through kiln drying and production of value added products (decking, flooring, panels, doors, etc.). The Processing Manager will optimize operational costs, productivity and yield in the timber processing plants.
The Processing Manager will be responsible for the human resource development as well as health, safety and environmental management of the Processing Plants (including maintenance of ISO14001, OSHAS18001 and FSC Certification)
Below are some of the specific responsibilities of the Processing Manager:
• Directing Production Staff Activities by managing approximately 125 members of staff in the Processing Plants as well as a team of supervisors.
• Control productivity targets, yield indicators and progress against orders.
• Manage and control transport to the loading site as well as container loading from the loading site for destination Dar es Salaam Port.
• Managing and overseeing Physical Production Budgets.
• Identifying and rectifying operational problems within the production units.
• Setting housekeeping and maintenance schedules for the production units.
• Liaise with the Engineering Department and advise on Maintenance Requirements.
• Manage consumables stock and ensure timely orders of sawmill specific consumables (i.e. sawblades, sharpening tools, etc…)
• The Processing Manager will report to the Operations Manager of KVTC
