Job Title: IT Specialist
Location: Dar es Salaam
Anticipated Start Date: Mid November, 2015

Responsible for setting up, maintaining and administering all ICT equipment and systems for Internews activities in Tanzania, including online and other interactive media operated in coordination with program partner organizations.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
• Install, maintain and manage all ICT related resources in Internews Dar es Salaam 0ffice
• Install and configure user laptops and desktops on windows and mac operating systems
• Configure and set up Microsoft outlook email accounts for Internews staff in Tanzania
• Assist in keeping track of inventory of ICT software and hardware equipment and accessories for Internews Dar es Salaam Office
• Troubleshoot systems, diagnosing and solving hardware/ software faults
• Routine hardware and software preventive maintenance
• Liaise regularly with Internews HQ IT and digital security teams to ensure optimum efficiency and security of systems
• Work closely with Internews Innovation Advisor and Citizen Feedback Officer to set up and manage appropriate online and social media monitoring systems
• Assist in setting up and managing SMS and IVR systems
• Set up and manage Internews or local partner organizations websites and other interactive platforms as required
• Liaise with local partner organizations to coordinate and connect online, social media and other platforms
• Assist in training media staff on best practices to leverage online and social media
• Advise local partner organizations and media outlets on creative website and social media use
• Keep detailed records of above for project reporting,
• Report to Project Director and carry out other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• A Degree in ICT or related field
• Strong knowledge of network and communications technology, including server operating systems, network architecture, desktop solutions, email systems, erp systems etc.
• work experience in an international NGO strongly preferred
• Experience in training
• Good understanding of new media
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Overall knowledge of software and hardware firewalls
• Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server
• Working knowledge of windows server platform
• Must possess superior skills in php/ASP.NET, SQL, Python, Perl, and Microsoft SQL Server 2008. Experience in website design and publications production, including desktop publishing, graphic design and lay-out or related area is desirable.
• Basic network troubleshooting skills
• Excellence knowledge in outlook configuration
• MCSE / MCSA / MCSA messaging certification
• Flash video/animation experience is a plus.
The IT Specialist should have excellent English and Swahili communication, both verbal and written, excellent interpersonal skills, an experience in working effectively in a team environment, good public relations skills, self-motivation, excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
