The Country Director is a
senior resource that is accountable for the successful completion of all
project deliverables. This person will manage and facilitate alignment
at the country level, coordinating and communicating with UNDP and
appropriate Sudan Government Groups (PSM Unit, FMoH, etc). He/she will
monitor project status and furnish required reports and project plan
updates to the UNDP Global Fund Programme Manager and to Axios Senior
Management. This position is expected to guide the timely achievement
of all deliverables and to manage a core group of technical experts who
make up the Axios Sudan team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Represent Axios’ corporate vision and strategic objectives in Sudan, and ensure that Axios staff in Sudan understand and commit to them. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with AF clients (Specifically UNDP, the Sudan Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Pharmacy), donors, government entities, USG IPs and stakeholders, and other potential clients in the public and private sectors in Sudan. • Identify and participate in business development opportunities within Sudan and potentially the MENA region. • Ensure appropriate financial, administrative and staff management of Axios’ Sudan operations, including all functional areas (Operations, Finance, HR, IT and Administration, Research & Development/M&E). • Provide support, oversight and ensure implementation of all projects and deliverables within budget, to the satisfaction of clients, and to a high standard of technical quality and compliance with donor requirements. • Develop, implement, communicate and enforce policies and procedures that meet the requirements of Axios, Axios’ clients (donors) and sound management practice. • Act as budget holder for the in country costs on all Sudan projects • Foster and maintain strong and positive relationships with senior client personnel on Sudan projects. • Manage the development of budgets for the functioning of the Sudan office as a whole and have a leading role in activity planning. • Mentor, guide and develop all country staff
Educational Background and Experience:
• Advanced degree in health or business required. • At least 10-15 years professional experience in supporting multiple public health programs in developing countries. • Proven program management experience in a public health related field in developing countries. • Team and financial management experience required. • Experience in fragile, post-conflict or emerging states an asset. • Experience with logistics and supply chain management processes in developing countries a strong asset.
