COUNSENUTH is inviting applications to fill in a number of vacant positions for a program to improve nutrition in Tanzania. The program will respond to Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition needs in addition to creating a national coordinated response to improving nutrition in Tanzania. The work station for these positions will be in Dar es Salaam and the regions for implementation will be Dodoma, Manyara and Morogoro regions.
In addition to the specific requirements for each position as stated below, applicants must possess word processing, spreadsheets and data base skills; and should be capable of working with people of different cultural backgrounds as well as working with the local government at all levels. They must have very good interpersonal skills, highly motivated, creative, team player with high degree of integrity. They must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
All positions will report to the Executive Director, COUNSENUTH.
- SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER: MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
Position Summary:
The Senior Program Officer Maternal and Child Health will oversee the implementation of project activities in relation to maternal and child health. S/he will also be the focal point for liaison with the Reproductive and Child Health system of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Program Officer-SBCC team leader in coordinating and facilitating the maternal and child health activities in all regions under the program
- Assist in capacity building of program regional/district partners
- Participate in providing technical assistance and supportive supervision to the implementing partners under the program
- Participate in preparing plan of action, implementation and evaluation of the program activities
- Follow up closely the implementation of activities under the program as scheduled in the plan of action.
- To work with other relevant partners and stakeholders in maternal and child health activities
- Provide technical support to the regional nutrition coordinators/program officers
- Compile monthly/quarterly reports
- Any other work as assigned by the authority
- Basic degree in medicine and Masters degree in Public Health
- At least 5 years experience in managing health related project/program
- Experience in community engagement/mobilization and capacity building process
- Experience of working with Government institutions, civil society organizations and community partners
- Experience in nutrition will be an added advantage
Position Summary:
The Program Officer M&E will be responsible for the all monitoring and evaluation and related activities for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Establish and operationalize a system for monitoring of project implementation in the organization and provide timely feedback to implementing agencies and management for action to improve performance
- Establish and maintain data base for all projects and programs in the organization
- Ensure timely collection of relevant data from primary sources to update the database
- Analyze data collected from the primary sources and ensure effective dissemination of the results and lessons learned to the users and the management
- Conduct impact evaluation to assess the development effectiveness of the interventions involving the organization
- Assess M&E capabilities and training needs of local sub-grantee organizations and make arrangements for capacity building as necessary
- Participate in operational research as needed
- At all times, regard as strictly confidential, all knowledge and information not within public domain which may be acquired in the course of carrying out these responsibilities.
- Prepare M&E reports for the organization and its partners in a timely manner. All written materials shall be in English or Swahili as may be specified by management.
- Master’s degree in economics, statistics, M&E, epidemiology, demography, public policy or related field with strong microeconomic background;
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and demonstrated ability to conduct and/or manage social research using a broad range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies including experience in designing and implementing M&E systems and/or household surveys, and using statistical methods and standard econometric software packages to perform econometric analysis
- Good understanding of M&E methodologies and their application
- Ability to conceptualize, articulate and integrate M&E into project/program design and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and deliver in a timely fashion, tasks addressing needs of beneficiaries, including a track record of working in a multi-sectoral environment, building partnerships, and working with a diverse set of stakeholders
- Good skills in documenting best practices and lessons learnt from project/program interventions
- Behavioral competencies that facilitate dialogue among team members and stakeholders and other partners, including respect for different points of view, teamwork skills.
- Knowledge in nutrition is an added advantage.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English and Swahili.
