WFP Regional Coordinators African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)

The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, is a not for profit Pan-African institution, dedicated for the last 20 years to enabling advancement of economic policy research and training in Africa. The Consortium’s mandate and strategic intent is built on the basis that sustained development in sub- Saharan Africa requires well-trained professional economists and policy makers. AERC has been commissioned by the World Food Programme (WFP) to establish and manage a data analysis hub in support of WFP’s Purchase for Progress (P4P) programme. P4P is a five year agricultural and market development pilot programme being implemented across 21 WFP country offices. AERC will support P4P to analyze, package and disseminate lessons and best practices arising through P4P. AERC is seeking outstanding people to fill the following positions

WFP Regional Coordinators

Reporting to the Project Manager, the regional coordinator will closely work with the M&E specialist on all matters pertaining to data collection, liaising with secretariat at AERC to submit data and other logistical issues of the project at the regional levels. Specifically He/She will:
• Review country specific questionnaires and advise on the necessary amendments to the quantitative data collection
• Ensures sampling is done competently
• Supervise and support quantitative data collection and cleaning
• Provides quality assurance for data emanating from the country offices and promptly send such data to AERC data hub for analysis and dissemination to final users
• Ensure timely preparation and validation of country reports.
• Coordinate with IT specialist to successfully implement web based data transfer, up-plead , storage and down load

Functional Competency
PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics or related area
Demonstrated record of research related to food security, agricultural marketing and impact assessment
Direct experience with primary data collection methods
MUST be proficient in French and English

Behavioral Competency
Should be a team player with leadership skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
