Background
Tanzania Financial Services for
Underserved Settlements (TAFSUS is a non-profit company registered under the
company Act and set up in Tanzania to provide support to underserved Settlements.
TAFSUS has been set up to provide invaluable service of consultation and
management advice to communities living in slums and other underserved
settlements to enable them to upgrade their settlements. TAFSUS is supported by
the Slum Upgrading Facility (SUF) of UN Habitat, it aims to uplift the living
standard of slum dwellers through the development of bankable projects that
promote affordable housing for low- income household. The initiative brings
together multiple stakeholders from Government, private sector, civil society
and the commercial banking sector in order to ensure that a full range of
resources can be mobilized for this purpose in the short term. The TAFSUS
credit enhancement plays an important role in catalyzing developments. TAFSUS
is governed by an independent Board of Directors which is responsible for
overall governance, policy direction and oversight of the operations of the
company.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Programme
Officer and the TAFSUS Manager, the Field Support Staff (the “FSS”) of TAFSUS
has the following primary responsibilities:
- Ability
to Identify underserved settlements appropriate for upgrading projects.
- In
collaboration with TAFSUS team, conduct appraisals of selected projects
applications to develop bankable settlements upgrading projects.
- Conduct
field supervision for monitoring projects
- Manage
relationships between TAFSUS and the underserved settlements through
service delivery agreements.
- Assist
in mobilization of community projects applicants for the preparation of
business plans by TAFSUS team.
- Facilitate
and promote TAFSUS activities, organize meeting and training events for
communities intending to or working with TAFSUS.
- Together
with TAFSUS team work with communities to ensure targets are met and
quality is maintained.
- Participate
in preparation of reports which include project appraisal, monthly and
quarterly reports.
REQUIRED SKILLS,
COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS

A University degree or
equivalent in Community Development, business, urban planning or related fields
·
At least 2 years experience in
project management and community-based projects undertakings.
·
Must have computer skills
especially MS Excel and MS Word
·
Willingness to work on a
flexible schedule, high degree of integrity and responsibility
·
Fluency in English and
Kiswahili with good report writing skills required
REMUNERATION: The successful candidate will
be provided with attractive remuneration that is commensurate with his/her
qualifications and experience.
