VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat was established in accordance with section No.29 (1) of the Public Service (Amendment) Act No.18 of 2007. One of the main functions of this organ is to advertise vacant posts occurring in the Public Service and conduct recruitment process.
On behalf of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affair, the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill vacant posts at Attorney General’s Chambers Head Office in Dar es Salaam and at its Regional Offices across the country. as shown below.
1.0 ATTORNEY GENERAL’S CHAMBERS
1.1 STATE ATTORNEY II - 115 POSTS
1.1.1 DUTY STATION: Regional Offices
1.1.2 REPORTS TO: Director of Public Prosecutions.
1.1.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To provide Legal opinion in respect of simple criminal cases under the Supervision of State Attorney In-charge,
• To conduct prosecutions of simple cases in District courts, Resident Magistrate and the High Court,
• To handle appeals in the High Court,
• To provide Legal opinion/advice to the government on legal matters under the supervision of State Attorney In-charge,
• To conduct legal research on various Legal matters, and
• To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by State Attorney Incharge.
1.1.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• LLB degree from recognized Institutions.

• Must have completed and passed the Internship or externship programme supervised by the Attorney General’s Chambers or Legal Practical training conducted by the Law School of Tanzania.
• Fluency in both English & Swahili Languages.
1.1.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - AGCS 3
1.2 ASSISTANT LAW SECRETARY - 5 POSTS
1.2.1 DUTY STATION: Regional Offices
1.2.2 REPORTS TO: Regional State Attorney In-charge
1.2.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To receive, register and file incoming mails.
• To dispatch letters and files.
• To receive, register and file letters related to legal matters.
• To receive and retrieve Police case files, Case documents, open chamber briefs and present to the State Attorney In-Charge.
• To keep safe custody of Government records, case files, briefs and all information relating to the post.
• To receive Court records from the Court of Law, register, open chamber briefs and present them to the State Attorney In - Charge.
• To receive, take on charge and keep Law Periodicals, Government Gazette and Government Notices.
• To receive, register and present to State Attorney In-Charge the copies of Judgments and Ruling delivered by Courts of Law for reference purposes.
• To keep and maintain registers.
• To make the overall supervision of the available records at the District, Regional or
Offices of the Attorney General’s Chambers’.
• To perform any other official duty as may be assigned by the Zonal State Attorney Incharge.
1.2.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Secondary Education Certificate (Form VI), plus Certificate in Law from a recognized Institution.
1.2.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - AGCS 1
1.3 LAW SECRETARY – 1 POST
1.3.1 DUTY STATION: Dar es Salaam
1.3.2 REPORTS TO: Head of Legal Registry Unit
1.3.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To receive, register and file incoming mails.

• To dispatch letters and files.
• To receive, register and file letters related to legal matters.
• To receive and retrieve Police case files, Case documents, open chamber briefs and present to the State Attorney In-Charge.
• To keep safe custody of Government records, case files, briefs and all information relating to the post.
• To receive Court records from the Court of Law, register, open chamber briefs and present them to the State Attorney In - Charge.

• Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (Form VI) who has acquired a Diploma in Law from a recognized Institution.
1.3.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - AGCS 1
1.4 TRANSPORT OFFICER GRADE II - 1 POST
1.4.1 DUTY STATION: Dar es Salaam
1.4.2 REPORTS TO: Director of Administration and Human Resource Management
1.4.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare transport schedules.
• Prepare Budget for Transport operations.
• To liase with service providers for vehicle maintenance.
• Advise on transport requirements.
• To ensure proper maintenance of Attorney General’s Chambers vehicles.
• Evaluate Drivers performance in their daily operations.
• Administer use of Log books.
• Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by his/her Supervisor.
1.4.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Transportation Engineering from the Government recognized institutions/ an accredited University or Higher Learning Institution

1.4.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - TGS D.
1.5 GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION OFFICER 1 POST
1.5.1 DUTY STATION: Dar es Salaam
1.5.2 REPORTS TO: Head of Government Communication Unit
1.5.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Process and produce reports.
• Prepare press briefings/releases.
• Prepare documentation of photos, videos, CD’s for the Attorney General’s Office.
• Prepare brochures, Journals and posters for the Attorney General’s Office.
• Distribute various publications to the media and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
• Design and produce official promotional educational and public awareness materials.
• Perform any other official duty as may be assigned.
1.5.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree or Advanced Diploma in Journalism or equivalent qualification from recognised Institutions.
• Computer Literacy.
• Good interpersonal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
1.5.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale – TGS D.
1.6 STATISTICIAN GRADE II - 1 POST Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
Reports to: Director of Planning
1.6.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To collect, analyze and present statistical data to the management;
• To prepare arrangements of collecting statistical data and making sampling for the Office of the Attorney General;
• To assist other duties and responsibilities for the Economist II;
• To perform any other official duties as maybe assigned by the Director of Planning.
1.6.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree or Advanced Diploma in Economics with major in either Economics or Statistics from the government recognized Institutions;
• Computer literacy;

1.7 PERSONAL SECRETARY GRADE III - 4 POSTS
1.7.1 DUTY STATION: Regional Offices
1.7.2 REPORTS TO: State Attorney In charge
1.7.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To perform routine typing duties.
• To receive, interview and direct office visitors.
• To keep safe custody of Government records, events, projects and dates for meetings.
• To receive and send Telephone messages.
• To keep diary and appointments for her/his supervisors.
• To arrange and keep office files and receive letters.
• To make correspondence of routine matters.
• To perform any other official duty as may be assigned by the Regional State Attorney In charge.
1.7.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Certificate of Secondary Education (form IV) who has attended and successfully passed Secretarial course from government recognized Institutions,
• Typing Stage III with English and Kiswahili shorthand of 80 words per minute;
• Computer Literate in MS Windows, Internet and E-mail, Microsoft Office, MS Excel, Desk publisher from a college accredited by the Government.
• Good Customer care skills,
• Fluency in both English and Kiswahili languages will be an added advantage.
1.7.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - TGS B
1.8 RECEPTIONIST - 1 POST
1.8.1 DUTY STATION: Attorney General’s Offices - Headquarters Dar es Salaam.
1.8.2 REPORTS TO: State Attorney In charge
1.8.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To receive, assist and direct visitors accordingly.
• To provide telephone services.
• Perform any other official duty as may be assigned by his/her Supervisor.
1.8.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with passes in English, Mathematics and Swahili subjects.
• Good interpersonal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
1.8.5 REMUNERATION: According to Public Service Salary Scales TGS B.
1.9 RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT GRADE II – 3 POSTS

1.9.1 DUTY STATION: Dar es Salaam
1.9.2 REPORTS TO: Director of Administration and Human Resource Management
1.9.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To preserve and maintain records for the Attorney General’s Office and its
Customers.
• To search and identify records in the Ministry’s registries.
• To provide professional advices on records management as may be required.
• To appraise various records.
• Perform any other official duty as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.
1.9.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV or VI).
• Certificate in Records Management from a recognized institute.
• Good interpersonal communication skills in both English and Swahili.
1.9.5 REMUNERATION: According to the Public Service Salary Scales TGS B
1.10 DRIVER GRADE II - 10 POSTS
1.10.1 DUTY STATION: Regional Offices
1.10.2 REPORTS TO: Transport Officer
1.10.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To drive officers to different destinations while discharging their official duties;
• To dispatch office documents and parcels as may be directed by the Transport Officer/State Attorney Incharge.
• To maintain the motor vehicle log book;
• To perform any other official duty as may be assigned by his/her Supervisor.
1.10.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Secondary school Form IV certificate; • Class C Driving License;
• Three years driving experience with no accident records;
• Trade Test Grade II from a reputable technical/vocational training institution.
1.10.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - TGOS A
1.11 OFFICE ASSISTANT - 4 POSTS
1.11.1 DUTY STATION: Regional Offices
1.11.2 REPORTS TO: Regional State Attorney In-charge
1.11.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To keep the office premises, buildings, and other facilities clean.
• Dispatch messages and mail from one place to another within or outside the premises and prepare tea for staff.
• To ensure that the office properties and facilities are in order and safe.
• To ensure that gates, doors and windows of the office premises remain closed after working hours.
• To ensure cleanliness and proper custody of office properties.
• To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the State Attorney Incharge.
1.11.4 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES
• Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with passes in English, Mathematics and Kiswahili subjects.
• Good interpersonal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
1.11.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - TGOS A.
1.12 SECURITY GUARD - 4 POSTS 1.12.1 DUTY STATION: Dar es Salaam
1.12.2 REPORTS TO: Principal Security Guard
1.12.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To secure Government premises (property and buildings); • To maintain security of the office at all times;
• To make sure all visitors have approval or proper invitation;
• To give suggestions on how to improve security services at the place of work; • To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by his/her Supervisor.
1.12.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Certificate of Secondary Education Form IV with training in para militia, police or National Service (JKT).
1.12.5 REMUNERATION: According to Government Salary Scale - TGOS A

ix. Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV will necessitate to legal action
x. Applicants for senior positions currently employed in the public service should route their application letters through their respective employers.
xi. Applicants for entry levels currently employed in the Public Service should not

xii. Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply.
