Our Buzwagi Mining Operations requires a suitably qualified and experienced Administration Manager who will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of financial and commercial systems for Buzwagi, to enable the business to meet its long and short term business objectives. This position will report into the Mine General Manager and is worked on a FIFO 6/3 week’s roster.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and manage systems for the efficient management of:
- Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Warehouse Operation
- Information Technology

- Develop an annual Plan for the various functional commercial areas to determine their service commitment requirements to enable the business to meet the Life of Mine Plan.
- Ensure the required level of commercial support is delivered to the site operations department to agreed cost, quality, quantity and schedule.
- Manage procedures for compliance with SOX standards and IFRS.
- Establish and manage systems for compliance with ABG Corporate Finance policies.
- Maintain a formal communication and reporting system with the Dar es Salaam SBS and JHB regional financial office.
- Maintain a formal management reporting system that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements and business improvement initiatives.
- Assist the General Manager in developing the overall business strategy, particularly in regard to financial and commercial matters.
- Set direction and lead the team consistent with ABG Values.
- Achieve safe and healthy working conditions, promote a high level of health and safety awareness and be responsible for the safe and efficient management of department.
- Lead and promote the development of a culture of workforce environmental care and respect.
- Develop the Annual Plan for the department and drive achievement of continuous improvement targets.
- Prepare and manage the budget for the department.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for all tasks performed within the department.
- Ensure opportunities are maximized for sharing processes and support services across ABG.
- Maintain appropriate level of visibility and accessibility throughout team and customer base.
- Ensure a nationalization development plan is established for department
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
- BCom accounting or relevant University diploma/degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce
- Membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 10yrs experience in a similar role, encompassing financial and business support functions.
- Significant experience in senior accounting roles, including experience in a site-based environment.
- Contract negotiation and contract management/administration
- Demonstrated experience in providing financial analysis and strategic advice as part of a business leadership team.
- Experience in the use of computerised accounting systems.
- Word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications
- Proven ability to use problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated abilities in influencing and negotiation.
- Proven ability to deliver results and lead a team in delivering a high level of customer support.
- Demonstrated experience in managing change within large organizations.
- Experience in managing department costs and budgeting.
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
