Communications and Reporting– INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Europe Bureau in Geneva, seeks an intern to assist in its Communications and Reporting unit.
Reporting functions for the Europe Bureau encompasses producing information products for the effective and efficient dissemination of reports concerning the response to the refugee emergency in Europe. The unit communicates information in respect of UNHCR operations and humanitarian assistance throughout Europe which includes preparing and publishing operational reports, internal and external updates, and factsheets.
Communications and Reporting Internship
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Assist in consolidating and analyzing information/data in order to facilitate the preparation of reports.
- Research and respond to information requests.
- Draft information pieces.
- Assist with content and design for daily situation updates published and created by UNHCR.
- Monitor activities & policy developments regarding refugees, asylum seekers & humanitarian emergencies.
- Administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Superior command of English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Awareness of international affairs and refugee situations are highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, desirable: basic photo editing and resizing skills)
Duration:
The intern is expected to begin early September 2016, and be available for 3 months. The role is full time (40 hours per week).
No provision is made for remuneration of Interns as per UN policy. All costs connected with Internships must therefore be borne by the Interns or their sponsoring institutions or governments, including costs relating to travel and living accommodation, and health insurance.
