Job Title: Literacy Boost Facilitator
Reports to: Literacy Boost Coordinator/ADP Manager
Location; Singida Cluster
Position Purpose
The Literacy Boost Facilitator position is responsible for efficient and effective implementation of the Literacy Boost Program activities in Area Development Programs in Singida Cluster of WV Tanzania Program.
The job holder works closely with relevant ADP staff and key partners to ensure that Literacy Boost Program is mainstreamed and integrated within education programming efforts in the ADPs.
Major Responsibilities;
• Efficient and effective coordination, supervision, facilitation, monitoring and follow up support of Literacy Boost Program activities implementation. Specifically:
o assist in implementation of Literacy Boost reading assessments
o assist in implementation and monitoring of LB Community Action activities
o assist in implementation and monitoring of the LB Teacher Training and classroom observations
• Organize, coordinate, facilitate and report on all Literacy Boost training activities in the ADPs.
• Report collection, compilation and submission to WV Tanzania ADP, Custer and National Office as required
• Liaise with partners, particularly the Ministry of Education, school heads, teachers, School Management Committees and community leaders in the implementation of the Literacy Boost Program components
• Facilitate Literacy Boost materials creation activities through a variety of methods, including collection of local oral literature such stories, poems, proverbs, riddles, songs, among others
• Conduct literacy market survey, situation analysis and language analysis in the ADPs
• Assist in documenting lessons learned, collect case studies and success stories on Literacy Boost Program for reporting, sharing and advocacy
• Promote positive reading behaviors by children in the target communities.
Qualifications:
• A university degree in education, linguistics or language education
• At least 3 years’ experience in teacher training, children’s education programs implementation
• Knowledge/experience/skills in project management/supervision, including project monitoring and evaluation
• Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili; oral and written skills in the language of the ADPs would be an advantage
• Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office and internet research

• Passionate about children’s reading and learning
• Attentive to detail in children’s education programming activities
• Willing to work in the Singida Region
• Able to work with minimum supervision
