Supply Chain Planning Manager , Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL)

Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL) operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the 2nd largest beer company with a market share of just under 30%. It is an integrated demand/supply business with 3 operational breweries in Dar and Mwanza, and a third one in Moshi. SBL’s flagship brand is Premium Serengeti lager, which accounts for 50% of SBL sales volumes. SBL’s flagship brand is Premium Serengeti lager, which accounts for 50% of SBL sales volumes. The other beer brands are Tusker, Tusker Lite, Guinness, and Pilsner. SBL is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Ltd (EABL) – which is in turn partly owned by one of the world’s biggest alcoholic beverage companies, Diageo. Diageo boasts some of the world's biggest spirits brands which are sold in the country such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Bailey's to mention a few.

The Supply Chain planning manager will be responsible for planning and organising the operations of 3 breweries; ensuring product is brewed and packaged in line with stocking standards to ensure delivery of an On time in full of >90% of all orders raised. The manager will plan final product, raw materials, packaging materials and movement of good between sites to deliver this goal of OTIFNE.

Effective Supply Chain Planning and efficient logistics are key to the realization of customer satisfaction, sustaining competitive advantage, maintaining SBL’s position among leading-edge companies and maximise utilisation of assets.
This role works closely with Operations, SBL Procurement, Sales, Marketing, Export markets, CGI, KBL & UBL and Other members of the Supply Chain/Logistics team.



Purpose of the role

• This position is responsible for coordinate supply plans for Beer production, brewing, packaging and distribution, which are aligned to sales and operations strategy to meet customer demands.
• Ensure glass production plans at CGI & Kioo  are aligned to SBL requirements.
• Optimises supply plans to ensure efficiencies and product availability.


Top 3-5 Accountabilities

• Preparation of brewing, packaging and distribution plans, on Stratplan, Tactical and Operational bases, covering horizons of up to 18 months.

• Liaison with Brewing, Packaging and Spirits production managers as well as Marketing and Technical departments to incorporate their initiatives in the supply plans through S & OP Process.

• Monitoring and reviewing of inventory levels of both finished goods and work-in-progress.

• Generate and coordinate tactical plans for import and export of finished goods. Generates tactical and long term plans for use in strategic planning and decision making in resource allocation.

• Ensure set inventory targets are met and adhered to.


Qualifications and Experience Required:

Qualifications  

• Honours degree in Science or equivalent

Experience  

• 5 years hands-on experience in production operations of, 2 of which must have been spent in production scheduling, preferably in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Experienced in supply chain optimisation, resource planning, requirements planning and capacity planning.
