Description: | Cardno Emerging Markets UK Ltd is seeking a Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist for an anticipated three year DFID/Nike Foundation funded Assets to Adolescent Girls Initiative programme to be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The programme is designed to enhance the economic empowerment of adolescent girls in developing countries. This Expert will be responsible for the coordination and management of all communication requirements of the programme. They will assist the management team in the promotion of programme successes, good news stories and innovations. Other objectives of this role are: · Develop, coordinate and deliver the communications strategy for the programme, including the coordination of an official public launch for the programme. · Work closely with the management team to highlight programme successes to ensure knowledge generation and use of lessons learned. · Communicate successes and innovations to programme stakeholders, to encourage replication and scale-up. · Focus on building knowledge and expertise for improved development approaches, sharing of lessons, and replication and scale-up of innovations. · Coordinate communications and knowledge generation / management across the country programmes. · Use appropriate media and communications vehicles to promote key messages for programme outcomes. · Develop communication campaigns using a range of media products with UK Aid branding to raise awareness of the project, its innovative business models and positive impacts on girls. | |
Qualifications: | Successful candidates will possess the following skills and qualifications: · At least 10 years of experience in donor funded programmes in communications capacity. · Post-graduate qualification in communications, monitoring and evaluation, international development or related field. · Knowledge of and experience working with a range of media and communications tools. · Experience working in East Africa. · Experience of working to support the development of women and girls. · Proven experience developing and implementing communications and knowledge management strategies for large donor-funded programmes. · Knowledge of information management database technology. · Proven research and written and oral communications skills. · Experience working in South Asia in addition to experience in East Africa is desirable · Experience working specifically on DFID-funded programmes is highly advantageous Cardno have vast experience of managing similar programmes and were responsible for the implementation of the Value Girls Programme funded by Nike Foundation and USAID. | |
