AMREF is an independent, non profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to “improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives”. AMREF has over 500 employees throughout Africa with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. AMREF has offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa and Tanzania. AMREF has thirteen National offices in Europe and North America for liaisons and fundraising. AMREF Tanzania, one of the fast expanding country office programmes is largely supported by multilateral , Bilateral and national donors, implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDS/TB/STI, Family Health, Water and sanitation, Malaria, Training, clinical outreach and disaster management. AMREF Tanzania is therefore seeking to recruit highly qualified , experienced and motivated individuals to fill the following positions:- ob Objectives: To ensure that the fistula project is well coordinated and integrated within other relevant projects such as maternal health projects implemented
Qualification:
Qualification & Experience:
• Basic degree in Medicine or equivalent with Masters of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynecology) or Public Health/Community medicine or related Masters Degree,
• Experience and interest in Safe motherhood initiatives and obstetric fistula in particular
• Experience and Interest in working with local authorities and communities
• Networking skills with project staff, donors, partners and government leaders
• Excellent project planning and proposal writing skills,
• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
• Track history and clear understanding of health systems and local government structures and CSOs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide overall coordination of fistula activities implemented by AMREF;
• Mobilize and coordinate partnerships for participation in fistula activities in the country
• In collaboration with the specialists and other partners, develop and disseminate quarterly and annual work plans for conducting the various fistula program activities
• Provide leaderships and participate in the assessment of needs for program expansion and reach,
• In collaboration with the Obstetric fistula specialists and AMREF finance department, compile and prepare quarterly, annual and other reports in accordance with program contractual obligations;
• Organize training workshops and seminars for fistula capacity development;
• Participate in proposal writing aimed at accessing additional resources to meet the needs of fistula programming in Tanzania,
• Identify opportunities for enhancing the effectiveness of fistula programming in the country;
• Ensure that the fistula project is well integrated within other relevant projects such as maternal health projects implemented by AMREF in Tanzania;
• Coordinate the project steering committee and other meetings as required, The project manager shall also be secretary to the steering committee overseeing the AM REF fistula program in Tanzania
• Carry out other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor,
