Chemonics seeks long-term technical specialists for the anticipated three-year, USAID-funded Power Africa Transactions and Reforms Program. The program aims to support capacity building and transactions under the U.S. President's Power Africa Initiative, focusing initially on the following countries: Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualification:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in energy-related engineering, policy, business, finance, economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum 10 years of experience working on small-scale renewable energy projects
• Experience working in the sub-Saharan energy sector and understanding of key issues and stakeholders involved in small-scale renewable project development
• Experience with international donors, preferably USAID
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
• English fluency required; Swahili fluency highly desirable
Responsibilities include:
• Link project developers and investors with national and regional financing networks
• Identify small-scale, grid-connected projects and distributed generation projects and businesses
• Provide coaching and mentoring to small-scale energy projects, helping to develop business plans, investment pitches, and growth strategies; facilitate linkages with investors and financiers
• Support innovative off-grid and mini-grid solutions to increase electricity access and rural electrification
• Coordinate project support and development from early stage through financial closure in collaboration with other Power Africa partners and donors
