Organizational Setting and Reporting
These two positions are located in the Conference Services Section, (CSS), Division of Administration of the Economic Commission for Africa. The interns will work under the overall supervision of the Chief/OIC of the Section and the direct supervision of the Marketing Team Leader. The internship is for six (6) months with an opportunity for extension depending on the needs of the Section under the supervision of a designated staff in the unit. She/he will work full-time five days per week (35 hours). Remuneration: the United Nations does not pay a remuneration for the services rendered by the intern during the agreed upon period. A certificate of service, however, may be provided at the conclusion of the internship assignment, depicting the type of work they rendered, and the assessment of the performance.
Responsibilities
Assist in the setting up of relevant Marketing databases in support of the work of the Marketing Unit as assigned by the Marketing Team Leader, after endorsement of the Chief/OIC of the Section, by:- Gathering of information and entering data and potential clients and partners for the promotion of the UNCC utilization rate and space, as well as providing relevant information and data for increasing the utilization rate of conference rooms and exhibition space; - Track, through relevant database, previous, current and future events, exhibitions, and fairs, which could have positive impacts on the marketing promotion of the UNCC-AA;- Setting up a database, with detailed addresses of relevant contacts of current and potential partners, as well as government entities, in the area of marketing and tourism industry, both within and outside Ethiopia;- Assisting in duplicating communication tools such as CDs, DVDs - Report regularly to the Marketing Team Leader on the progress of assigned duties;- Assist in the follow of activities related to interaction with identified UNCC Ambassadors;- Assist in the proper and timely finalization of marketing and promotional tools and activities;- Perform any other duties as assigned.-

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program of a graduate school (Second university degree or higher); pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four year of full studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree. Be computer literate in standard software application; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideas of the Charter; and have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand, and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
English and French are the working language of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
