We have an exciting new role available for a Postdoctoral Scientist to study major human pathogens (pneumococcus and influenza) in high disease burden African country. You will join a team of researchers studying the pathogenesis, molecular epidemiology, drug resistance and evolution of these pathogens using large datasets derived from next-generation sequencing.
You will play a central role in the scientific leadership of an internationally recognised molecular microbiology and bioinformatics group in Malawi and must have proven record of excellence in this research area. We are seeking a talented individual with the necessary ambition, drive and enthusiasm to translate their skills to address important problems in resource poor settings.
You should have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Computer Science with experience of working closely with biological fields such as Microbiology. The post is available for three years initially and based full-time in Malawi.
