Position Description |
The position involves methodological and applied work in epidemiologic research to identify biological, social, environmental, and genetic factors that lead to an excess burden of cancer among African Americans. Work will focus on understanding the role of diet or its downstream consequences (e.g., obesity, changes in the epigenome or microbiome, etc.) in influencing cancer risk and cancer disparities. Opportunities exist for designing and implementing epidemiologic research within a large cohort study. Fellow will work closely with Dr. Lisa Signorello and will have opportunities for close collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team working on studies of cancer epidemiology.

Basic Qualifications |
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, nutrition, biostatistics or a related field. Candidates should have a strong quantitative background, experience in programming and analysis of epidemiological data using SAS,STATA or other packaged programs, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with collaborators. Previous work in the fields of nutrition and cancer, obesity, or cancer health disparities is preferred.

Additional Qualifications |
The fellowship is for a two year period beginning as early as November, 2012. US citizenship or legal permanent resident status is required in order to apply for this position.
