help2kids is looking for a motivated management trainee / intern to help manage our children’s home and handle pre-arrival and post-departure volunteer coordination. Gain great experience working with a small NGO!
help2kids is a young, dynamic organization located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, which is situated on the Indian Ocean. We help orphans by providing food, shelter, and lots of love at our children’s home. We help the community by bringing English and computers into the classrooms of local schools. We promote sustainable development and socially responsible tourism by feeding the profits from our guest house back into our projects.

Tasks
Volunteer Coordination (50%)
- Coordinate all volunteer pre-arrival and post-arrival administration, including answering volunteer inquiries, updating volunteer platforms, following a step-by-step volunteer intake process, sending invoices, confirming airport pick-up, sending volunteer certificates, surveys, requests for sponsorship, etc.
Children’s Home (50%)
- Post Facebook updates and write bi-monthly blog
- Help with basic administrative work and run errands, as needed.
- Work closely with staff and help2kids Field Manager to ensure adherence to schedule, cleanliness, and rules
- Work closely with Field Manager and children’s home volunteers to create volunteer schedules, field trips, theme weeks, etc.
- Interact with the children and work to continuously improve the quality of their lives though creative programming, support, and love
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should:
- Be fluent in English (Additional languages - Swahili, German, and / or French - preferred)
- Have exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Have strong interpersonal skills, outgoing & team building skills
- Diversity awareness
- Passion for children and youth
- Flexible, problem solving, multitasking
- Eager to learn
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Be a university graduate
- Work well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- Work well with team of local staff, foreign staff and international volunteers
- Be willing to live on-site at the children’s home (en-suite room with private entrance provided)
- Commit for at least one year
- Integrity & Adaptability
Previous development experience preferred. Previous experience living in Africa preferred. Driver’s license and willingness to drive organization’s van (16 seats) preferred.
