Job Title: Head – Economic Integration and Regional
Cooperation

Supervisor: Director, Economic Affairs

2.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Formulate appropriate policies and plans of
action and develop programmes and project proposals relating to economic
integration matters; regional and international cooperation; coordination and
harmonization of the activities undertaken in the framework of enhancing
economic integration and regional cooperation; assistance to the RECs in the
implementation of their programmes; regular assessment of the integration
process;

Implement, monitor, supervise and evaluate
projects and programmes relating to the implementation of the Abuja Treaty;
• Organize and service
workshops, seminars and meetings;
• Coordinate and
conduct studies and
research in related
fields of work
of the
Division;
• Ensure
overall management of the Division: personnel, budget, performance, quality
discipline, training, in conformity with relevant rules and procedures in
force;
• Produce and submit
periodic reports on activities and specific missions;
• Perform any other
duty as may be assigned.
4 . Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must
hold a Master’s
University Degree in
Economics, or International
Economics, or Development Economics. A PhD in the
aforementioned fields is an added advantage.
4. Work Experience:
Candidates must have at least 10 years of
relevant working experience in economic integration and regional cooperation,
of which at least 5 years should be at management level.
5. Other Relevant Skills:

Computer
literacy;

Working
knowledge of policy analysis, programmes/project management, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation;

Management
experience, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate
others and to work in a multi-cultural environment;

Excellent drafting and reporting skills;

Good
communication and negotiating skills;

Good
planning and organizational skills.
7 . Language Requirement:
Proficiency
in one of the African Union working languages. Knowledge of one or several
other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
7. Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 35 and
50 years old.
8. Tenure of Appointment:
The
appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of three (3)
years, of with the first twelve months will be considered as a probationary
period.
Thereafter,
the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to
satisfactory performance and deliverables.

10. Remuneration: Indicative
basic salary of US $45,551.00 per annum plus other related entitlements
e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($16,819.20 per
annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other education related
expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child
per annum), etc for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
