Our partner is a prestigious international NGO that focuses on healthcare and the eradication of disease in the developing world. A Country Finance Manager is required for the Country Office in Mozambique. Fluent Portuguese required.
Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
- Ensure monthly transactions are entered in the Ledger accurately
- Act as a signatory and take responsibility for checking the validity and account coding of payments
- Approve advances for field activity and staff travel, ensuring proper process for disbursement of funds
- Checking the balance sheet and validating: monthly bank reconciliations; purchase ledger reconciliations; staff advances and other debtors; sundry creditors and other creditors; check fixed assets register is up to date
- Approve monthly payroll and remit the payroll deductions to the correct government authorities;
- Work with the Regional Finance Manager to improve financial systems in the Country Office, recommending change
- Submit monthly reports to the regional office
Management Accounting
- Ensure project financial reports for donor and partners are prepared according to requirements;
- Ensure monthly management accounts are reviewed and variances are acted on by budget holders; report to the CFO on the variances and the remedies that will be taken.
- Ensure in-country monthly donor grant variance reports are prepared and reviewed on a monthly basis
- Prepare annual budgets and monthly cash flow projections for the country office
- Make regular visits to field offices, project sites and partners to ensure good standard finance management
Candidate:
Essential:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
- Knowledge of the Mozambique and Southern Africa
- Knowledge of NGO donors and their reporting requirements
- 3- 5 years accountancy and managerial experience
- Fluent in Portuguese spoken and written
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of accounting software
