We are currently seeking Finance Directors for locations in various
locations in Europe, Africa and Asia.
WHAT WE OFFER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall
• Lead the Finance and Grant management at the national office and at sub offices, ensuring ongoing capacity enhancement, managing investments into change projects, and ensuring compliance to local statutory law and the organisation’s accounting and donor reporting policies • Lead all financial and grant related matters relating to the national and sub offices, and oversee activities, including leading on training of staff and other capacity enhancement initiatives • Built effective relationships within the organisation, external consultants and donors. • Become an active part of the Senior Management Team and support the Executive Management Team to achieve the NGO’s goals and mission Financial Planning • Support budget holders to produce quality budgeting information, including budget to actual comparisons and donor reports as requested • Ensure all relevant stakeholders are involved in the budgeting process, liaison with programme design, logistics, HR, Administration, and other departments • Prepare management reports for budget holders to monitor budgets on a regular and timely basis • Provide advice/training to budget holders • Ensure financial policy frameworks are in place for guide decision making processes • Lead on the preparation of annual budgets, forecast, accounting, and all donor requirements • Ensure maintenance of records to meet legal and tax requirements. • Prepare proposal budgets and donor financial reports, and ensure high quality and timeliness • Ensure compliance of donor requirements, advise on programme’s funding portfolio utilisation
Control & Supervision
• Continue the organisations efforts to take steps minimising the risk of fraud or error • Ensure appropriate guidelines are in place to safeguard all cash and assets • Carry out inductions and staff trainings for finance procedures, donor requirements etc. Additional duties • Contribute to on-going finance policy revisions, support and enhance the on-going development of the organisations Finance & Grants guidelines • Facilitate internal and external auditors
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 10 years experience working within Finance, of which at least 5 years in the NGO sector, preferably in the developing world • Qualified professional accountant (internationally recognised qualification as CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Please note that practical experience equivalent will be considered • Experience in staff management, supervision and capacity building • Proven track record of providing strategic support for multi-sector and/ or multi-country programmes • Knowledge of requirements of, and experience in budgeting and reporting to major donors (USAID, DFID, ECHO, UN agencies, WB, EC, AusAID, EuropeAID. • Good attention to detail and analytical skills • Experienced in risk management • Computer literate (i.e. MS Word, advanced Excel, Email communication software (e.g. Outlook), Internet Explorer, financial systems). • Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in managing multicultural teams • Experience with any SUN, PSF or Oracle financial systems • French and Portuguese speaking candidates are encouraged to apply
