The Consular Directorate of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) provides advice, assistance and support to British travellers and over 6 million expats. Increasingly, this support is sought and provided digitally, through websites and social media.
We are in the process of improving our ability, in London and around the world, to respond to the public digitally when they seek advice or assistance.
As Digital Manager, Consular, you will oversee the FCO’s digital consular presence, leading on our digital communications strategy and proactive online campaigns. You’ll also identify, engage, manage and exploit new tools to help us deliver our messages more effectively. This is an exciting, demanding, high profile job.
You’ll have a proven track record in strategy writing, planning and delivering the digital element of integrated communications campaigns.
You’ll be excellent at developing working relationships with existing online communities, and also at explaining and de-mystifying digital communications channels to people who have no experience of them.
You’ll have a strong understanding of the digital landscape and future trends, as well as proficiency in standard web tools including CMS, WordPress, web analytics, SEO, Photoshop, HTML and all social media channels.
Four days a week, you’ll work in our Press & Digital department – spending one day a week in the Consular Directorate.
