Immunization Communication Officer
· Provide support to the project's publication production, fulfillment, and dissemination efforts:
· Promote publications and other products to audiences through electronic means (list serves, toolboxes, databases, newsletters, e-bulletins); create and disseminate monthly newsletter(s); submit publications/contract deliverables to www.dec.org
· Track, measure, and evaluate publication dissemination/distribution
· Fill publication orders from project staff for trainings and conferences, as well as the general public, and USAID; suggest and provide resources for various activities; coordinate all shipping of materials
· Monitor and answer ad hoc questions and publications requests to general information email box
· Manage the physical inventory and archives of publications and collateral/promotional items
· Bind documents and prepare materials when needed
· Manage reprinting of publications and promo items; ensure that production and printing comply with the blanket purchase agreement (BPA) guidelines; track orders and manage invoicing and payment process for vendors and contribute to BPA negotiations
· Provide field offices with resources, publications, and dissemination materials; liaise with country teams
· Provide support for event planning and preparation of internal and external events including:
· Publications displays at conferences; when applicable, plan project events, serving on coordinating committee and as registrar and interfacing with vendors
· Track applicable outside conferences for project participation and manage abstract submission process; review, submit, and track conference abstracts
· Contribute to knowledge management strategic planning and provide overall support to the Knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in community health, health communication or education and 5 years of experience in the field of health communications with specialization in maternal and child health.
· Excellent written and verbal English skills required
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel; skills in Adobe Professional preferred
· Experience managing printing and/or training vendors
· Experience with event coordination and support
· Ability and desire to work in a team setting
· Ability to work independently and manage various projects in a team setting
· Familiarity and interest in public health and international development
Experience with USAID and/or other donor agencies highly desirableImmunization Logistic Offier
· Prepare logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned or new operations;
· Develop logistical plans for existing operations;
· Develop logistics contingency plans;
· Develop plans for downsizing or liquidation;
· Develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans; Formulate Standard Operating Procedures;
· Manage logistics operations, including, material and personnel;
· Ensure timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery of peacekeeping cargos and personnel;
· Ensure that supervised staff members are adequately trained and cross-trained;
· Identify additional training needs to achieve high working standards;
· Coordinate and provide logistics support to ongoing air, land, river or rail operations;
· Ensure that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs;
· Coordinate logistics activities with procurement, finance, humanitarian affairs and other substantive units;
· Develop and implement logistics support policy, procedures and methodologies to the common benefit of all mission units;
· Maintain close contact with MCHIP regional immunization advisor and headquarters
Qualification
· Citizen of Tanzania
· 5 years of experience in public health logistics, with specialization in immunization and maternal child health.
· Degree or Diploma in logistics’
· Experience in working in multi agency with regional and global organization and partners eg WHO, UNICEF etc
Immunization Technical Officer
Responsibilities
· Participate in defining and implementing MCHIP's technical agenda with particular focus on new and underutilized vaccine introduction;
· Provide technical assistance for preparedness, implementation and/or monitoring/evaluation of new vaccine introductions (pneumococcal conjugate, rotavirus, meningitis conjugate) in up to 8-10 sub-Saharan African countries
· Work with USAID missions and projects, Ministries of Health, other international partners, and MCHIP country advisors in developing planning, implementation and evaluation capacity at national and sub-national levels;
· Participate in the selection, orientation and supervision of MCHIP country and regional staff and consultants;
· Provide direct on-site technical assistance to country programs and other field activities;
· Participate in the development and monitoring of annual work plans, budgets, reports, and performance reviews and requirements;
· Participate in and train others in use of data at national and sub-national levels to strengthen planning, management and monitoring of progress towards achievement of new vaccine and/or routine immunization results;
· Prepare issues papers, technical documents, presentations and peer-reviewed articles on program strategies, findings and research results;
· Perform other technical duties as assigned by the Immunization Team Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduate degree in public health or equivalent and a minimum 5 years working in the field of international public health
· Excellent interpersonal and team skills--demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
· Fluent spoken and written English and Kiswahili
· Excellent written and oral communication and computer skills
· Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time in the Africa region
· Prior experience working with USAID development projects
· Knowledge of the Tanzanian ministry of health structure at all levels will be an added advantage for this position
