For the expansion of the “Building Coffee Farmers’ Alliances in Uganda” project to Kasese District, Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa wishes to recruit the following highly motivated and disciplined experts. All the positions will be based in the Kasese project area:
Driver:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager and based in the project area you will be responsible for driving and maintaining the project vehicle. You will also ensure regular maintenance of all field motorbikes.
Requirement:
Clean Driving License held for a minimum of 7 years. Proven experience in driving all types of vehicle in up-country as well as town environments. You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience employed in the position of driver.
Field Office Secretary/Bookkeeper:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager you will be based in the project area. You will be responsible for all secretarial and administrative functions associated with the field office including managing petty cash and bookkeeping.
Requirement:
You should be highly disciplined and efficient in your work, fluent in English, and have excellent secretarial skills and basic accounting skills. You should be computer literate. You will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position. A secretarial qualification is preferred but experience will be considered.
Database Officer:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager you will be responsible for maintaining a computerized data base of all project beneficiaries and to analyze the data to generate reports. You will also assist in monitoring exercises and in the maintenance of project records.
Requirement:
You have at least 3 years of experience in maintaining and analyzing databases. A high level of computer literacy and accuracy is essential. You should preferably have education to degree level.
Commercial Coordinator:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager you will be responsible for value addition and bulk marketing activities at farmer group level. In coordination with the management of farmer organizations you will interact with value chain service providers (processors, transporters, etc.) and with coffee buyers.
Requirement:
You have a strong business approach and a good understanding of the coffee value chain further to mobilization and coordination skills. You have an in-depth understanding of smallholder marketing practices and at least 5 years of experience in an agribusiness environment with focus on commercialization and marketing. You should possess a valid license to ride a motorbike.
Monitoring & Evaluation Officer:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager and to the M&E Coordinator you will be responsible for setting up a system for monitoring improvements and impact at field level, assessing field reports and undertaking regular field visits to verify data submitted. You will also be required to implement computerized monitoring programs.
Requirement:
You are an expert in Monitoring and Evaluation with a minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluating progress in agricultural development projects. Understanding of coffee production systems is an advantage. You should have education to degree level and be highly computer literate. You should possess a valid license to ride a motorbike.
Field Officers:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, you will be responsible for implementing an effective agricultural extension system focusing on improving coffee husbandry at farmer level and coordinating with other field workers of the project and District Authorities. You will also assist smallholder coffee farmers in developing a business approach to farming through the establishment of farmer organizations with the objective of enhancing access to services, value addition and bulk commercialization.
Requirement:
You are an expert in sustainable coffee farming systems, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in extension work in rural locations. You have experience in establishing and working with farmer organizations and have in-depth knowledge of smallholder marketing practices.
You should preferably have an agricultural or related field qualification at Degree level and be computer literate. You should possess a valid license to ride a motorbike.
For all the above positions fluency in Rukonjo and in English is preferred.
