Position: Community Service Coordinator
Reports to: Camp Manager
Location: Maban County - Upper Nile State, South Sudan
Duration: 12 month
SUMMARY: Relief International (RI), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development, currently seeks a Community Service Coordinator to lead the coordination process of Doro camp.
The Community Service Coordinator will lead the implementation of various activities at the camp level and serve as the most direct link between the various beneficiary groups and committees and the RI management of the project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Help to establish community based committees in the refugee and host communities • Establish a network of the various groups and committees • Develop and manage key contacts, build relationships and develop partnerships with local organizations, service providers and other stakeholders. Establish information mechanisms to ensure transparency and communicate effectively with the refugee and host communities. • Supervise and provide support to local staff hired to assist and work on the program. • Plan and implement activities against workplan ensuring timely achievement of program objectives • Encourage the involvement of camp residents as volunteers, as appropriate. • Evaluate and provide for appropriate developmental/mentoring opportunities for assigned staff. • Coordinate with Camp Manager to develop appropriate risk reduction strategies under the program activities • Coordinate with Logistics and operations colleagues to ensure effective distribution of commodities according to the workplan • Develop educational and training materials for capacity building of program beneficiaries
QUALIFICATIONS: • Three or more years of experience in a similar role, preferably in humanitarian settings/refugee camps • Appreciation for and understanding of refugee issues and challenges • Previous experience in coordination role of project integrating multiple stakeholders, particularly grassroots groups and managing communications across cultural and language barriers • Previous livelihoods work in humanitarian programming • Ability to live, work, and travel in remote South Sudan, which can be difficult and stressful • Previous experience in South Sudan preferred • Fluent English required, Arabic language skills to be deemed a plus • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as ability in decision making, problem solving, and team building
