Vacancy for Civic Education Adviser
The Communal Land Support Project (CLS) implemented by GIZ – International Services
accepts applications for the post of Civic Education Advisor with duty station in Oshakati.
Main duties/responsibilities:
•To develop civic education and related materials for use in specified communities and/.or throughout the CLS operational area. The topics may change over time but among others relate to informing/mobilizing communities, traditional authorities, communal land board members, local administration and the wider public on issues such as the importance and proper use of commonage, the advantage of registering land parcels, understanding the communal land reform act and land reform policy, understanding rights and obligations, gender aspects etc.
•To produce or support production of materials for TV, radio, printed media such as films, pamphlets, brochures, drama, comics etc.
•To organise and conduct community consultations, meetings etc.
•To assess the effectiveness of materials developed and activities implemented and make improvements were necessary
•To travel extensively in rural areas and attend outreach and civic education events
•To interact with the media fraternity, designers and printing houses during the process of material development
•To support field staff to prepare monthly/quarterly plans and reports
Minimum qualifications
•University degree in communications, public relations, media studies or a related discipline
•Experienced in PR work and producing materials for outreach and civic education campaigns
•Previous experience of assessing communication effectiveness and the design of communication materials
•Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to organise and facilitate workshops and seminars at managerial and local level
•Excellent computer and ICT skills
•Proficient in English and knowledge of locally spoken languages is a definitive advantage
•Good understanding of the socio-economic environment of the northern communal areas
•A valid driving licence and at least 1 year driving experience is a must
Duration of contract As soon as possible – on the basis of a one year contract with the possibility of extensions until October 2013
