The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter is a national child focused organization working to protect and promote the rights of children with particular focus on preventing and redressing violations of children's rights. ANPPCAN Uganda Chapter seeks to recruit competent dynamic and creative individuals to join her team of passionate child advocacy professionals in the following positions:
Position: INFORMATION OFFICER
Duty Station: KAMPALA
Reports to: PROGRAMME COORDINATOR INFORMATION, RESEARCH AND POLICY ADVOCACY
Major Responsibilities
The Information Officer has the responsibility of planning, preparing and producing materials geared towards enhancing the visibility of the organizations' work. The Information officer will ensure professional documentation and broad dissemination of ANPPCAN research studies, success stories, best practices and lessons learned during the implementation of activities to key stakeholders including Government, development partners, civil society organizations and the general public. The Information Officer is responsible for writing, editing and supporting production of organizational reports and other print and online materials including newsletters, brochures and the ANPPCAN- website. It's also the duty of the Information Officer to promote the ANPPCAN brand.
Specific Tasks:
1) To regularly generate and disseminate relevant information through the media and other relevant fora so as to enhance respect and promotion of children's rights.
2) To maintain effective links with and build the capacity of the media in ensuring effective coverage and advocacy for the rights of children.
3) To maintain positive organizational public relations and visibility through talk shows and in newspapers.
4) Maintain and constantly update the website.
5) Manage contact lists and maintain consistent communication with all partners.
6) Write media publications including articles, and press releases on pertinent issues relevant to ANPPCAN work
7) Provide techinical support in the area of communication to all the ANPPCAN district offices.
8) Coordinate the production and distribution of ANPPCAN materials such as newsletter, brochures, factsheets and other materials for both internal and external use.
9) Track and analyse ANPPCAN-media work to inform management decisions.
10) To undertake any other organizational assignments as might be required from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:
1) A minimum of a Bachelors degree in mass communication from a recognized university.
2) At least two years experience working in the area of communication and public relations.
3) Previous experience working in a media house.
4) Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
5) A strong capacity for analysis and information management.
6) Excellent analytical, evaluation and report writing skills.
7) Experience in web design and website management
8) Demonstrated ability to Coordinate tasks to meet deadlines.
9) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to maintain flexibility in working hours.
10) Good interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
