Association of African Women for Research and
Development (AAWORD/AFARD)
The Association of African Women for Research and Development (AAWORD) was created
in December 1977 in Dakar by a group of African women researchers who, aware of the low
level of the presence of women in research, and convinced that research is a crucial factor for
the success of any development programme, have decided to undertake any activity relating to
research, advocacy and training with a view to improving the status of women and
transforming gender relations in African societies.

POSITION : Fundraising Program Officer
DUTY STATION : Dakar, Sénégal

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Secretary, the Fundraising Program Officer
will have to:
- Prepare funding requests budget in collaboration with the Executive Secretary
- Plan and follow up AAWORD various fundraising activities
- Follow up funding requests with partners in collaboration with the Executive Secretary
- Submit quarterly analysis reports on the fundraising activities
QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Business Administration
- Knowledge of various fundraising issues
- Ability to conceive, develop and implement great fundraising campaigns
- Ability to analyse and quickly make the most of information from various sources
- Ability to produce various clearly and concisely written funding requests
- Ability to make oral presentations before various funders and partners
- Proven professional skills and command of gender issues.
- Show team spirit
- Ability to plan and organise the work
- Demonstrated knowledge of EXCELL software and research engines
- Have a sound address book in terms of fundraising

LANGUAGES
English and French are AAWORD working languages. For this position written and oral French is
compulsory. Knowledge of written and oral English is required.
