In conjunction with the Public and Church Engagement team and the wider CC community, provide strategic leadership to the development, understanding and practice of World Vision’s ministry with churches. Provide strategic direction and oversight to the development and expansion of WV's partnerships with global church and Christian organizations, and support Regional, NO and SO church partnerships to contribute to spiritual and social transformation as stated in our mission statement, strategies and policies on partnering with churches. Ensure that WV’s relationships with global, regional, national and ADP-level churches and Christian organizations contribute to the holistic mission of the church and deepen our joint engagement in holistic ministry and advocacy for justice around child-focused initiatives..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1) 30% of Time - Provide strategic leadership to ensure the development, understanding and practice of World Vision's ministry with global Church and Christian organizations
End results expected:
1.Develop and coordinate the implementation of a strategy for WV's engagement with global Church and Christian organisations, joint programing and financial support (e.g. RCC, Orthodox Churches, WCC, WEA, Global Christian Forum, Lausanne, Micah, Alpha, Anglican Communion, Pentecostal associations). This includes ensuring WV's representation at priority boards, global meetings, and conferences.
- 2) 35% of Time: Support Regional CC and Support Office staff to ensure their development of partnerships with churches and Christian organisations at SO/RO and NO levels, and ensure consistent implementation of WV's mission, policies, protocols and strategies for partnerships with churches
End results expected:
1. Support Regional and Support Office staff to ensure contextually appropriate church engagement strategies at all levels.
2. Ensure and coordinate the development of educational and church mobilisation resources for church leaders on national and ADP level; including the development of regional or national conferences and training events for church leaders.
3. Facilitate a working group to share resources and strategies for SO and NO church involvement in holistic mission and advocacy.
4. Ensure consistency regarding international church partnerships between one SO or NO and others.
5. Enhance a listening attitude toward church engagement in the field and a serving attitude toward the Church.
- 3) 20% of Time: Ensure the integration of appropriate church partnership in all WV's program areas
End results expected:
1. Ensure alignment between CC, Channels of Hope, A&JC, Global Marketing and Communications, HEA, VisionFund, etc. for comprehensive and coordinated relationships with Church and Christian organizations.
2. Work with the Director of Prayer Ministries on engaging churches in prayer for issues of poverty and injustice and for special needs in WV programs.
3. Work with the Director of Ministry Integration on the integration of church engagement in WV's programming standards and models.
4. Work with other senior leaders to ensure and enhance the development of appropriate church partnerships in their program area's.
- 4) 15% of Time: Strengthen WV’s identity as Christian organisation working in partnership with churches for more effective witness, engagement in justice, and contribution to the sustained well-being of children, families and communities.
End results expected:
1. Coordinate WV's engagement in global Church and Christian mission/academic consultations to build positive partnerships and contribute to broader movements committed to alleviating poverty and enhancing the well-being of children.
2. Write, speak, coordinate research and serve as a thought-leader on the role of churches in justice, advocacy and holistic development
REQUIRED:
- Postgraduate education and understanding the theological, cultural and historical background of the global Church, the spectrum of different denominations, ecumenical movements and major para-church organizations.
- Demonstrated skill to unite and mobilize a diverse group of people around a shared mission.
- Proven ability to think and act in a holistic way and create integrated strategies, combining outcomes of different organizational areas
- Extensive international and cross-cultural working expertise in the area of church leadership, church partnerships, and nonprofit management (minimum of 8 years).
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Exemplary oral and written communications skills.
PREFERRED: - Basic knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Candidates from a majority world background are preferred who also understand Support Office contexts.
- Ordination and pastoral leadership experience preferred
