Qualifications: -

National Diploma/Degree in Mine Environmental Control /Ventilation Engineering / Mining Engineering or equivalent.

Experience: -

At least seven years' experience in the underground mining of which at least 5 years are in ventilation mine environment control.
- Experience in various underground mechanized mining methods advantageous. - Substantial experience ventilation software I modeling packages (Vuma / Ventsimetc) and solid experience operating GMP such as Datamine, Vulcan, Studio 5D or similar.
Purpose of the Role: To ensure mine ventilation best practices are followed at the newly established underground mines and all technical services pertinent to underground ventilation is supplied.

Main or Key Accountabilities: Accountabilities
Safety
• Maintain compliance with OHSAS 18001.
• Develop an annual plan for monthly safety inspections and task observations.
• Coordinate monthly safety inspections and task observations.
• Attend weekly safety meetings to communicate safety issues and monitor that all , actions and issues are addressed.
• Ensure all areas ventilated according to standard and report any deviation immediately to supervisor and stop working areas if required.
People
• Complete weekly RAR sessions with Manager as well as with direct reports (if applicable).
• Monitor effectiveness of getting the work done within the department with respect to continuous improvement, reduce process variation and in a trust inducing manner.
• Conduct frequent Performance Management Sessions (at least 2 x per year).
• Hold weekly meetings with direct reports
Environment
• Maintain compliance with ISO 14001.
• Ensure all design and planning work complies with environmental policies.
Ventilation
- Participate in the annual site-wide BP process by reviewing designs and schedules to ensure compliance to ventilation standards.
- Provide detailed key inputs for the budgeting process.
- Assist Underground Production Manager in compiling ventilation procedures and processes.
- Monitor workplaces atmospheric conditions and network compliance on a daily basis.
Participate in monthly planning (advising on advance rates etc).
- Developed and maintain ventilation network plans / models for all underground workings and update when changes occur.
- Compile monthly ventilation reports.
- Support primary and auxiliary ventilation maintenance schedules and notify underground of any impacts to the working environment.
- Provide Specialized Ventilation Information and Guidance on all underground related matters.
- Solid experience in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel and Word.
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations and conflicting priorities while providing leadership and direction.
- Demonstrated leadership ability at a remote site and/or developing country.
- Able to form and maintain a professional relationship between client and contractors.
- Very good analytical, planning and prioritizing skills combined with the ability to utilize the knowledge gained.
- The successful candidate should be innovative, have a strong desire to succeed and a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
- Superior written and verbal skills (Enqlish) as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Able to obtain and hold a Tanzanian Driver's license.

-          Substantial experience in all aspects of planning ranging from LOM planning to detailed short term and productions planning

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

SAFETY

-          Maintain compliance with OHSAS 18001

-          Develop an annual plan for months safety inspections and task observations

-          Coordinate monthly safety inspections task observations

-          Attend weekly  safety meeting to communicate safety issues and monitoring at all actions and issues are addressed

PEOPLE

-          Complete weekly RAR session with manager as well as with direct reports

-          Conduct frequent performance management skills at least 2 x per year

-          Hold weekly meeting with direct reports

-          Mange team of underground planning and productions engineers

PLANNING

-          Monitor and report deviance from 3 monthly and 7/21 schedule

-          Overview monthly end reporting process for underground productions statistics

-          Coordinate all relevant productions engineer work inclostope and ring design

-          Assist underground manger with monthly claims

-          Establish and maintain a mine planning system using suitable fit for purpose software to integrate geological resource models survey data optimize designing productivity trends process recoveries to accurate and timely plan mining
