Africa Regional Markets is one of the 21 market groupings for Diageo. ARM is made up of over 40 markets across the breadth of Africa. Within ARM there are 6 Commercial sub-market groupings being Ethiopia, Ghana and Cameroon, which are standalone In Market Company (IMC) type businesses and then 3 other Hub groupings (3rd party business in West and Central Africa and two smaller standalone IMC’s in Reunion and Seychelles)
PURPOSE
This role works closely with local consumer marketing, global brand teams, consumer planning and the global media and digital centres of excellence. It must also work with key agency partners directly in each of these markets. It has a significant impact on and influence with the General Manager of ARM, and the GMs of the business units.
This role is expected to also develop the overall organisational understanding of digital and media planning, building from a strong platform of deeper consumer understanding of media habits, the overall context of the digital and media industries and the needs of our brands.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of a University Degree (any subject)
10 years + experience in marketing and media/digital planning. Experience working in both agency and client companies would be a significant advantage.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Create and execute the key digital and media plans for all ARM markets in service of the brand and business goals set out in the annual Game Plan
Working with the brand marketing teams to define the appropriate goals, budgets and strategies to deliver the overall brand objectives
Work with key agency partners to execute the most efficient and effective plans, to deliver these objectives
Manage the agency base to ensure that we have the right agencies and people within the agencies to effectively deliver our business plans
2) To lead ARM’s thinking over the media and digital landscape, using innovative and creative approaches to drive Top of Mind Awareness ahead of our competitors
Working with internal experts, agency and industry specialists to establish new and different ways of working.
To challenge standard practice and bring us to a best in class standard in both the digital and media space, amongst comparable consumer goods business
To support the launch of critical innovation brands
3) Coordinate Media Initiatives across the region
Provide training and support on digital and media for the whole organisation
To develop from base level, three junior Digital and Media managers
To educate and develop the 4 marketing directors
Work with GBT and Global Innovation team on developing key initiatives in the region
Consolidate reporting on key initiatives and performance intervene where required
Search and Spin initiatives across the region
Rapid development of functional and leadership capabilities.
