- 1. CORE JOB DESCRIPTION
The Graphic Designer will provide design support to the business. Using desktop publishing and other specialized computer software, the Graphic Designer will design, layout and prepare a variety of text, illustrative and graphics materials/packaging. The Graphic Designer will also perform a quality assurance function; approving and vetting all promotional materials produced by external suppliers. The Graphic designer will also provide digital design support to our newly formed innovation department with their work during Human Centred Design ideation and concept/prototype generation.
- 2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design marketing collateral for products and interventions including print, promotional, Point of Sale and outdoor materials
- Review branding guidelines for all existing products and update where necessary
- Layout out public affairs materials and organisational publications such as annual reports, information brochures, diaries, calendars etc.
- Develop and maintain a database of all Tanzania artwork
- Quality Control - approve all supplier samples prior to final production as well as inspect and sign off all supplier deliveries before dispatch to Warehouse.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to brainstorm on innovative approaches to brand execution
- Format donor reports, proposals and external presentation templates
- Uphold global branding guidelines for all Tanzania corporate materials including, business cards, headed paper, office branding, signage, price lists etc.
- Provide guidance and recommendations regarding product specifications for various marketing materials including paper grammage, t-shirt weight, billboard dimensions etc.
- Provide technical input into advertising agency creative pitch reviews
- Implement and manage any global branding adjustments and protocols.
- Support innovations team with Human Centred Design workshops- developing rapid prototypes and employing industrial design techniques (training will be given)
3. PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- BA Graphic Design /Industrial Design or related advanced degree (equivalent work experience in related field considered)
WORKING EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years graphic design experience, preferably in an advertising agency setting
- Knowledge/experience in industrial design an advantage
CORE COMPETENCIES (Knowledge Base, Skills Base and Behaviour Base)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop essential.
- Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint added advantage
- Proficiency in photography and videography also an advantage
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, take quick and effective decisions
- Proven track record in demonstrating accountability and ownership; proactive approach
