Acacia Mining seeks to employ an experienced Supply Chain Section Leader based at Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Commercial Manager and the role holder will be accountable to lead the Supply Team and direct the purchase, storage and distribution of all materials in a manner that ensures the timely provision of materials of the right quality to customers at the lowest total cost of ownership, and at the same time maintaining inventories at optimum economic levels.
This is a fixed term contract role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Supply Chain Management/ Warehousing
o Monitoring and control of operating costs in the area to ensure budget compliance and to act swiftly to correct unfavorable cost variances.
o Developing/sustaining the supply chain network design for timely and cost effective deliverables.
o Direct the safe and secure storage and handling of materials in all warehouses on site in accordance with legal requirements and best practice.
o Ensure the operation and maintenance of systems to ensure the timely delivery of materials to site without damage.
o Improve the storage of materials to ensure protection against unauthorized use, protection against the elements, prevention of avoidable deterioration.
o Improve housekeeping standards in the storage / warehouse facilities.
o Improve the management of inventory by applying best practice to determine stock levels, re-order levels and re-order quantities, directing appropriate stock on hand variation procedures, and directing the placement of orders to replenish stock holdings.
o Drive an inventory reduction strategy with a focus to reduce 15% of inventory holding by the end of 2016.
o Maintain 95% stock take accuracy.
o Improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Operational Systems (Business Reporting, Procurement, Materials Purchasing, Transportation, Storage, Handling, Distribution and Associated Payments)
o Ensure that audits are conducted on the systems and that improvements identified are implemented.
o Ensure compliance with the systems and that key users state that the systems help them get their work done.
• Management Information
o Ensure that weekly and monthly department reports are completed accurately and on time and with appropriate content.
• Safety
o 10% reduction in TRIFR.
o All incidents are reported on time and investigated according to procedures.
o Ensure adherence to all Safety Standards and Procedures.
• Team Leadership
o Ensure that objectives are met by Team Members.
o Conduct performance monitoring and reviews of Team Members.
o Ensure that Team Members have a development plan and that they achieve the milestones on the plan.
o Ensure that team members comply with the Acacia Desired Behaviours.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Relevant Tertiary Degree
• MBA will be advantageous
• Registered with a recognized Supply Chain board
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Supply Chain role
• At least 2 years’ in a leadership role
• Must have strong Supply Chain related experience in a remote site environment (preferably mining environment)
