Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Knowledge Services Section, Public Information & Knowledge Management Division at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Director, Public Information and Knowledge Management Division.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information technology, information science, information systems development, knowledge management, library and documentation science or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge management and Information Society or related field; Knowledge policy development and advocacy; management of library and documentation centers and expertise in information technology is desirable. Experience in regional and international development cooperation and policy making including initiating, designing, implementing and coordinating knowledge management networks with member States, regional and international organizations; Experience in developing and managing knowledge networks is also desirable. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level university degree recognized by the United Nations.

Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
