Job summary:
The position holder will be the key technical advisor for integration of hygiene and sanitation into the ASTUTE deliverables and project activities. This advisor will also playa key role strengthening the capacity of MoH counterparts in the integration of WASH into nutrition, leading a national level task force and participating in key TWG.
Job requirements: .
Technical Oversight for all integrated WASH/nutrition activities
Lead overall WASH components in the multisectoral nutrition strategy and the integrated WASH components of this new program.
Provide regular guidance to program staff on WASH technical updates and activities;
Coordinate and provide guidance on the implementation of relevant evidence-based WASH integration into nutrition including technical resources and guidance documents for implementation of the program;
Remain up to date on global recommendations for integrated WASH into nutrition while integrating appropriate recommendations into programming efforts;
As needed, develop or provide guidance on the development of WASH strategies, tools and resources that can improve implementation of nutrition activities;
Advocate for an integrated WASH/nutrition technical working group and integrated WASH national guidelines and resources as needed to achieve optimal program outcomes. .
Support Coordination/ of integrated WASH/Nutrition Activities Nationally and across targeted Regions
Work closely with the Chief of Party and other advisors to understand current programming progress;
Regularly coordinate with the other advisors to integrate WASH and nutrition throughout the program;
Ensure that WASH remains integrated across all key areas of the program as needed;
As needed, develop or provide guidance on the development of tools and resources that can improve implementation of integrated WASH/nutrition activities.
Support Integrated WASH/Nutrition in Monitoring and Evaluation and Behavior and Social Change Strategy (8SCS) Activities
Provide inputs into all M&E tools to ensure integrated WASH/nutrition activities are properly tracked;
Regularly review program outputs to ensure progress towards meeting WASH/nutrition objectives;
Provide guidance into evaluation tools arid protocols;
Work closely with program advisors and consultants to ensure activities are enabling change in hygiene/nutrition behaviors at the community level;
Provide inputs into relevant BSCS materials for improving hygiene behaviors at the household and community levels.
Other Duties
Comply with all relevant Plan Tanzania policies and standard procedures;
Promote a strong team environment by contributing ideas, listening to others and willingly take on tasks that fall outside of this job description as directed by an employee with the appropriate delegation;
Work constructively with colleagues in other departments to promote the objectives of the organization;
Qualifications:
Over 7 years experience providing technical support to water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) interventions/ 'programs, ideally integrating with nutrition. .
Experience working with large-scale WASH programs and ideally integrated with nutrition.
Post-graduate education in public health, sanitation or related field;
Ability to work effectively and engage with government health systems, processes and delivery models in developing countries;
Demonstrated experience with implementing WASH to improve hygiene behaviors. ' .
Familiarity and understanding of DFID rules and regulations and standard operating procedures;
Fluent oral and strong analytical communication skills in English;
Written English communication skills required.
