BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Performs skilled electrical and instrumentation works for the embassy including Aid building and 112 GO Owned\LTL and STL residences . Identifies Spare Parts, Materials Items and equipment which must be repaired or replaced. Places orders into Procurement System. Completely responsible for the Building Automation System data base, Fire Alarm System maintenance and repairs, Fuel Monitoring System maintenance and repairs and recording systems, elevators control systems, water treatment plants electrical and controls, water storage control systems, HVAC ductwork control systems, compound main automatic voltage regulator inspection, compound main and secondary switchgear inspection, maintenance and repairs, advanced building automation systems, advanced by lighting systems and advanced building energy efficiency.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains repairs and install all kind of electrical equipment including kitchen equipment Office equipment, light equipment, low voltage automatic voltage regulators, HVACs and BAS System control devices, etc. Runs new wiring, installs outlets, switches and plugs. Troubleshoots existing equipment and repairs. May perform work on air-conditioners and refrigerators of a non-technical nature not requiring the mechanic. Installs new electrical equipment such as fans, pumps, distribution equipment, light fixtures, home appliances, etc. Must be able to wire Automatic Transfer Switches and must be able to work on Automatic Voltage Regulation equipment. Must be proficient in installation of new electrical distribution systems up to and including 5,000 amp capacity with all associated safety controls. Must be thoroughly capable of interpreting detailed electrical diagrams and diagnostic capacity must be extremely elevated.

Daily and weekly Conducts preventive maintenance (PM) for all BAS Systems and components electrical systems, switchgears, panels in conjunction with the AFM and FM develops a long range plan for absolute 100% equipment reliability thru scheduled PM inspections.

Trouble shoots the building automation systems (BAS), and keep track of performance of lighting Systems and all electrical and electronics systems (pump station, portable and waste water treatment plant) at the embassy. Troubleshoot and maintain fire alarm (FA) systems at the Embassy.

Researches manufacturers’ recommended spare parts, identifies new upgraded spare parts and replacement parts, enters these into the procurement system, and tracks the process until they have been safely received by the warehouse personnel.

Maintain records of all materials used for electrical works at the embassy and residences. Performs job activities and duties in a responsible manner to avoid the creation of safety or health hazards; conforms to established safety and health policies and procedures; properly utilizes appropriate personal protection equipment as required by the job activity; informs supervisor of all accidents, illnesses and injuries; promptly reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

- Education:
Completion of Secondary School (Form IV) is required. Completion of technical vocational school or equivalent training is required. - Prior Work Experience:
Minimum two years’ work experience programmable logic controllers, preferably on a USG owned facility. Experience with automated fire alarm systems, Automation system experience is mandatory as well as experience on NC system, pump system is required. - Language Proficiency:
Level III English (good working knowledge) and level IV (fluent) in Kiswahili (writing, reading and speaking) is required. - Knowledge:
Must have thorough knowledge in the electrical field, specializing in systems maintenance. Must have knowledge of external environment, shops and organization related in electrical fields. - Skills and Abilities:
In addition to electrical skills some instrumentation experience is required. Ability to read logic diagrams, and understand automated systems. Computer skills are required.
