Rook Consultants Limited (“Rook”) wishes to recruit a suitable person to fill the position of an Intern Accountant. The internship position is for a period of 3 months with possibility for permanent employment depending on availability of vacancy and the intern’s competency.
Rook offers unique tailor made tax, accounting and business support services to businesses. We take care of the tax, accounting and related business support services so that our clients can strategically focus on their core business.
The Intern Accountant will be based in Dar es Salaam but occasionally expected to travel upcountry for client assignments.
1. Roles and responsibilities
The Intern will be responsible for providing services to clients in the areas of accounting and tax including but not limited to the following:
• Posting of financial transactions from source documents and preparing monthly bank reconciliations, quarterly financial reports and annual financial statements for audit purposes;
• Appropriate filing of source documents which support the accounting/book keeping records;
• Dealing with all aspects of tax compliance including preparation of calculations and payments for monthly payrolls (PAYE, SDL & NSSF/PPF), filling of semi-annual PAYE and SDL returns, assistance with withholding tax compliance requirements including calculations and payments, preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns and payment of VAT to TRA and annual corporate tax compliance;
• Assisting with tax reviews, tax due diligences and other review assignments.
2. Qualification requirements
• The applicant should have a minimum of upper second class degree in Accounting
• He/she should be sharp, confident and with good English communication skills
• Good practical knowledge of general computer applications, especially excel
• Practical knowledge of any accounting package will be an added advantage
