The African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT) is seeking for highly
qualified Field Officers (2) to
support with field implementation of conservation agriculture project
activities based at Iringa and Mbeya in Tanzania.
About ACT
The African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT) a rapidly growing
pan-African not-for-profit organisation built on and driven by the values and
principles required to harness indigenous African “energies”, inspiration and
commitment to lead and contribute to Africa’s own development. ACT brings
together stakeholders dedicated to improving sustainable agricultural
productivity. The organisation promotes and supports Conservation Agriculture (CA)
adaptation and adoption, collecting and sharing scientific facts; and supports
farmers and the creation of multi-stakeholder platforms to search for joint
innovations.
Responsibilities
The Field Officer is accountable to the Programme Officer -Tanzania
and is responsible for providing day to day support in implementation of project
activities in Southern Tanzania (Kilolo, Ludewa, Songea and Namtumbo districts)
and Southern highlands Tanzania (Mbeya, Kyela, Mbalari, Mbozi, Momba and
Sumbwanga districts).
Specific responsibilities include:
i.
Effective implementation of CA project
activities
ii.
Prepare and update in a timely
manner quarterly and annual work plans and reports for the project activities
for submission to the Programme Officer
iii.
Ensure
project information data capture and processes, storage and analysis and
information sharing of the Project experiences and lessons
iv.
Undertake regular M&E
activities including follow up of demonstration and trial sites
v.
Ensure gender equality and gender
mainstreaming in all aspects of the activities
vi.
Coordinate and organize field days
and exhibitions/any event related to the programme based on the work plans and
budget.
vii.
Lead and manage the set up of
trials in collaboration with partners.
viii.
Ensure effective communication and
maintain appropriate relationships with the stakeholders.
ix.
Undertake any other duties as may
be required by the ACT Secretariat.
Qualification
·
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy.
·
At least 3 years of experience in project
management support.
·
Additional experience in M&E and community
based project management approaches
·
Familiarity with county governance and other
related procedures.
·
A strong background in gender equality and
gender mainstreaming
·
Good inter-personal and team building
skills.
·
Training or facilitation skills.
·
Willingness to travel between the two
project counties.
·
Excellent spoken and writing skills
