Winrock International is recruiting for the following positions, based in Kaoma, Zambia, for a three-year program to combat child labor in tobacco-growing communities through education, awareness, and economic empowerment. The program is funded by Japan Tobacco International. Verbal and written fluency in English is required.

Start-up Consultant (short-term consultancy). Identify office space in Kaoma. Identify and collect quotes from vendors for items such as office utilities, supplies/services, furniture, IT equipment, etc. Identify banks and liaise with selected branch and Winrock’s US Home Office to open local account(s). Assist with country registration as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Substantial experience in operational, logistical, and/or procurement functions. Experience in start-up of large, donor-funded programs preferred. Familiarity with Kaoma operating environment desired.
Program Director (f/t staff). Manage program activities, including direction of implementation; staff recruitment/supervision; reporting; and workplan development. Provide TA in child labor/protection and monitoring to staff and partner NGO. Represent the program/Winrock to the donor, government entities, the media, and NGOs. Ensure that financial activity is conducted in line with budget, Winrock policy, and donor guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in international development or related field preferred. Seven years’ experience in related programs specializing in at least two of the following areas: child labor prevention/eradication, agricultural training/education, youth development, or economic empowerment. Experience managing staff and budgets required. Strong skills in writing and donor relations/protocol required.
Financial Manager (f/t staff). Manage/conduct all financial/accounting aspects of program operations. Maintain bank, cash, and checkbook records. Prepare monthly financial reports, payroll/related taxes. Provide financial training for program/subgrantee staff as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or relevant field. At least 5 years’ experience performing financial management/accounting for international organizations. Strong knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software. Excellent financial record-keeping and organizational skills.
F&A/Program Assistant (f/t staff). Manage all admin aspects of office operations, including procurement, office/HR records, petty cash, and receptionist tasks. Assist with coordinating logistics, and preparing materials for program activities. Assist with data entry as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree and/or relevant prior experience. Minimum 3 years’ experience in administrative and office management. NGO experience preferred.
Agribusiness Specialist (f/t staff). Implement needs assessments and market surveys and work with communities to identify opportunities for agricultural economic growth. Develop curriculum and materials and help provide training in agribusiness (including modules in OSH, and organic methods and pest management), financial management, and business/marketing plan development. This will involve working with community leaders, women, youth, and local entrepreneurs. Assist with monitoring, data collection, reports, and success stories. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in agricultural development or related field. At least 3-5 years’ experience in agricultural training/education and one or more of the following areas: child labor prevention/eradication, life skills, youth development, economic empowerment, and gender. Strong background in training and community development required.
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator/Academic Support Specialist (f/t staff). Establish a system for monitoring the outcomes, impacts, and activities including the development of a database, monitoring tools, etc. to monitor areas of education, income generation, reduction of child labor, and others. Train local community activists and committees on child labor monitoring. Track the performance and attendance of youth beneficiaries in the program, project support for mothers as needed to improve businesses, and distribution of scholarship materials. QUALIFICATIONS: Higher education in social sciences or related field and/or specialized training/certification in M&E. At least 3-5 years’ experience in M&E of international development projects. Strong knowledge of M&E software required.
