Technical Specialists, East and Southern Africa
ASI seeks technical specialists for the anticipated 5-year DFID-funded East and Southern Africa Staple Food Markets Programme. The overall goal of this programme to improve functioning of national and regional staple food market systems, increase regional trade in food, and contribute to benefiting over 375,000 male and female farmers. Beneficiaries will be primarily poor farmers in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi. These positions are contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.
Seeking Technical Specialists in the following areas:
• Regional staple food markets • Staple food storage and collateral management systems • Supply chain coordination and information systems • Markets for inputs (seeds and fertilisers) and advisory services (transport, finance, insurance and market intelligence) • Regional and national regulatory environments • Gender integration • Knowledge management • Communications • Monitoring and evaluation • Challenge fund management • Financial management
Qualifications: • Advanced degree in in a relevant area required • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in development required • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the East and Southern African economy • Thorough understanding of and experience leading development programmes that use the M4P approach • Prior experience with DFID-funded programmes
