Carnegie Mellon in Rwanda (CMU-R) is seeking a dynamic candidate that
can provide strategic leadership in establishing market presence and
brand recognition in East Africa and beyond. S/he will drive marketing
activities by developing and executing an effective branding and
communications strategy, including social media marketing, for CMU-R.
S/he will be responsible for ensuring active and engaged communities
around CMU-R by managing long-lead editorial calendars, monitoring
online conversations and participating in those conversations to build
brand visibility. S/he will also measure the effectiveness of all
branding and marketing initiatives using qualitative and quantitative
analysis to meet the university’s objectives in student recruitment,
industry and government support, and community engagement. S/he will
manage the design and production of all CMU-R publications such as
program and resource guides, brochures, newsletters, presentations,
etc.
This will also include providing writing and editing support for websites, magazines, press releases, speeches and more. S/he will ensure publications and staff-created communications materials meet CMU branding standards. Lastly, s/he will work closely with media account managers, graphic designers, and printers as required to make sure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with five or more years of experience in international branding, marketing, and corporate communications. Master’s degree preferred. Excellent technical writing, verbal communication and presentation skills are required; knowledge of relevant technologies is expected, in particular using, desktop publishing tools, spreadsheet software, content management systems, as well as social media and other web marketing technologies. Some travel will be expected, up to 15% of the year. Fluency in English is compulsory; fluency in Kinyarwanda, French or Swahili is a plus. Relevant work experience in the region is preferred.
