ANPPCAN UGANDA DISTRICT PROGRAMME OFFICER

The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter is a national child focused organization working to protect and promote the rights of children with particular focus on preventing and redressing violations of children’s rights. ANPPCAN Uganda Chapter seeks to recruit competent dynamic and creative individuals to join her team of passionate child advocacy professionals in the following position: Position: DISTRICT PROGRAMME OFFICER Duty Station: KASESE Reports to: Programme Manager. Responsible for the overall leadership and management of ANPPCAN’s Kasese District Branch office. To ensure proper flow of information between Branch Office and the National Secretariat. To represent the organization at local events and ensure that the good image of ANPPCAN is kept. To ensure the practical protection of children from abuse and exploitation through developing and implementing relevant programs To act as the chief accounting officer of all the affairs of the Branch while ensuring timely reporting and accounting. To develop and implement a fundraising strategy to ensure office sustainability.

Requirement: Minimum of a Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Project Planning and Management, Development Management or related field obtained from a recognized institution. Knowledge on Gender and children's rights programming. At least three years relevant experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating child protection, participation/ empowerment and advocacy programs in a rural setting. Good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft office applications is a must. Experience in participatory approaches to community mobilization in a rural setting. Hands on experience in proposal writing, budgeting and budget management. Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner as a team leader. Knowledge and skills in casework management. Ability to engage with policy makers and other actors at district level for effective child protection. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to maintain flexibility in working hours. Good interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-­ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. A clear understanding of the local government system. Must be fluent in Rukonjo/Rutoro.
