The Project Coordinator's core function is to coordinate the project close out of a 2 year LWR's project Back from the Brink: Rapid Response to Hunger and Lack of Resiliency in Eastern Kenya and accompany partners, NEEMA and Makindu Self-Help Groups, instituting appropriate management systems to ensure effective management of the project and active participation of the project members.
This position is for 3 months ONLY (January - March 2012) and availability should be immediately. Only Kenyan nationals will be considered for this position. Interviews will be conducted during the second week of January 2012.
Duties:
I. Project and financial management - Mentor project management and cooperative society committees to ensure that they adopt and implement appropriate management and governance systems to enhance project sustainability - Hold regular coordination meetings with partners to review project progress inorder to ensure that all the outstanding project activities are implemented by end of February 2012 - Collect data on project impact and update project outcomes on a regular basis to ensure appropriate documentation on project impact/indicator achievement - Ensure that project narrative and financial reports are submitted on time and meet the reporting guidelines - Monitor the use of project resources by partners to ensure transparency and accountability standards are met; monitor partners on meeting their financial obligations - Ensure that high-quality project reports are submitted by the partners on time; provide review, feedback and technical assistance so that they meet the required standards; prepare and submit the quarterly project narrative report to LWR's Country Director for Kenya
II. Project close out - Ensure that all the project reports are prepared and submitted as per the Letter of agreement - Work with the Country Director in developing the Terms of reference for the final project evaluation and audit - Coordinate the implementation by Consultants of the final project evaluation and audit - Ensure that all the project equipment are labeled and handed over to the partners with explanation on how the will be used - Ensure that all the staff salaries and benefits are paid within the legal framework and any other financial obligations by the partner are cleared by February 2012
Qualifications:
1. Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners. 2. Bachelor's degree in community development, economics/finance, business administration, agribusiness, agriculture economics, forestry or other relevant discipline. 3. At least 5 years' experience in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community and economic development and/or disaster recovery projects. Experience in food-for-work, cash-for-work or voucher activities a plus. 4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong organizational, facilitation and planning skills. 5. Highly proactive and ability to perform with minimum supervision. 6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Kiswahili. 7. Strong computer and internet skills (MS Word, Excel, Explorer). 8. Only Kenyan nationals will be considered for this position.
