The Group produces mainly aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold and industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt) and iron ore.
QIT Madagascar Minerals (QMM) is a mine of ilmenite located near Fort-Dauphin in the southeastern tip of Madagascar. Although the operation of the mine was expected since 2005, mining began only a year ago and QMM is the largest mining project ever undertaken in Madagascar. It mobilizes currently 550 employees and 600 providers on the site.
The position:
Attached to the Director of operations of QMM and Manager of a team of 2 direct employees (60 employees in the Department), the Director of the mineral separation plant will be responsible for:
- Manage human, financial, operational, technical resources and maintenance of assets and programs of the MSP (Mineral Separation Plant) service capital expenditures
- Manage the transportation of goods to the port, and act as a guardian of the quality of the products.
- Manage the Department of the service of employees which includes aspects related to transportation, housing and car park.
- Ensure good compliance with the legal provisions of the company from the requirements of the sector and the group.
- Ensure compliance with the deadlines of the plan of the annual production in terms of quantity and quality with budget constraints.
- Being able to assess and then to take alternative actions to ensure the achievement of the objectives. Develop and coordinate strategic improvement targets having as objective optimum performance.
- To promote and implement alongside with the Department of human resources plans of development of skills for Department employees.
- Promote the integration of various cultures, teamwork, continuous improvement and motivation.
The successful candidate must possess:
- A minimum of 10 years experience on a comparable position in the mining industry
- A significant successful experience of team management
- Work experience in Africa or in a developing country
- Superior training type in metallurgy, engineering or geology
- An MBA or a diploma in management will be a real asset.
