The Manufacturing Engineer - Paint will be responsible for the day to day execution of the paint process and provide technical expertise and leadership in developing, facilitating, implementing, and troubleshooting the painting processes. This individual will be part of manufacturing engineering team and primarily responsible for the development of the paint pretreatment and paint processes as well as capital equipment needed to support new product /processes development.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Manufacturing Engineering activity for the Paint Department.
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve pretreatment and paint manufacturing processes
- Deliver capable processes and tools for paint shop operations
- Develop and continuously improve pretreatment processes
- Develop training plan and train paint personnel. Initiate and support visual standards training
- Serve as the subject matter expert for paint pretreatment and paint process provide technical support to technicians and work teams
- Work with Design Engineering on design for manufacturing guidelines including drain holes, access points, and hang methods
- Work with application engineering / project team to provide technical expertise
- Initiate safety, cost, quality and productivity improvements in the paint operations
- Lead problem solving and conduct root cause analysis on quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes
- Working closely with the Environmental Engineering department to assist with reporting and proper disposal of hazardous waste
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
