• Provide strategic Communications (CX) counsel and support on areas of reputation opportunity and risk to relevant business leaders
• Deliver local and national external and internal communications results in line with the global Manufacturing CX strategy and commitments to MLT
• Support the execution of external Campaigns as part of Shell’s CX campaign programme
• Work closely with both COEs and Business CX teams to ensure alignment between global and local messaging
• Work closely with business and country Internal CX Advisor(s) to align internal and external messaging and content
• Provide full range of external CX support to critical projects including developing external engagement plans, liaising with external stakeholders and identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues that could potentially harm Shells reputation
In addition, the following Social Performance (SP) responsibilities:
• Deliver social performance support including social investment at Project/Asset in order to meet business objectives and maintain social license to operate, i.e.
Community Sensing and Engagement, Social Impact Assessment, Strategic Social Investment, SP Strategy and Planning
• Undertake/oversee Specialist SP activities
• Provides SP (including SI) leadership for the Project/Asset
• Ensure adequate delivery of SP (including SI) capability and resource to Project/Asset
• Ensure compliance with the SP Manual and other relevant aspects of the HSSE&SP Control Framework
• Oversee grievance process, including resolution
• Develop local partnerships and leverage global/regional partnerships /alliances to deliver SP and SI
• Active contribution to regional SP network
• Enable / participate in SP reviews
• Carry out (social) risk and impact assessment - including design and implementation of mitigation plans
Requirements:
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• Bachelor's degree in Communication, Social Science, English, Journalism or in a related field
• Minimum 6 years experience in communications, preferably with experience in Oil & Gas Industry
• Demonstrable understanding of the business - gained in operating company or global business environment inside or outside Shell
• Able to think strategically and translate business objectives into multi channel strategies / plans
• Ability to secure the trust of senior leaders personal behaviours and performance
• Strong communications background with track record experience in external affairs and/or media management
• Self-starter showing high degree of personal initiative, drive, and desire to come up with new business targeted creative solutions
• Proven skills to deliver under time pressure
• Applied and varied work experience in environmental and social fields in different social and cultural contexts
• Knowledge of internal and external SP standards and processes
• Experience with impact assessments and strategic social investment
• Experience with specialist areas pertinent to location (e.g. local content, resettlement, indigenous people, cultural heritage, conflict)
• Ability to work up to 20% during weekends or after hours
