The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a collaboration between the University of Washington and the University of California, San Francisco. It is a center in the University of Washington's Department of Global Health and has offices throughout Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. I-TECH's 700 worldwide staff work in partnership with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), medical facilities, and other organizations to support the development of a skilled health work force and well-organized national health delivery systems. I-TECH's activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; and prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases. The primary purpose of this position is to manage and strengthen the supply chain for HIV/AIDS commodities and antiretrovirals to ensure uninterrupted distribution to health facilities in Malawi. The TA-HCSC will build capacity in the Ministry of Health (MOH) for implementation of appropriate and sustainable supply chain management systems for HIV commodities. The position will strengthen the coordination between the HIV programs (HIV Testing and Counseling, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission / Antiretroviral Therapy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases) and the Department for Health Technical Support Services, collaborating with Central Medical Stores (CMS), procurement agents, funding agencies, implementing partners and zonal and district health offices. The TA-HCSC will work closely with HIV Program Officers and the Logistics Officer in the MOH Department for HIV and AIDS, supporting program planning, forecasting and quantification, procurement, distribution and inventory management of commodities, and responding to Global Fund grant requirements. The TA-HCSC will also act as a mentor to other staff involved in logistics management. This is a full time position to run for three years with the possibility to extend based on re-evaluation of program priorities. A dynamic, entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record in health care commodities supply chain management is sought for this role.
