Activities:
* Participate in recruitment process of mechanics and drivers for the mission
* Provide initial induction and regular trainings to drivers and mechanics on driving / mechanics-related topics such as: Off-road driving, Self recovery, Hydraulic/Electric winch operation, Basic maintenance and repairs, Detection and reporting on technical problems, Road traffic rules and regulation
* Provide basic training on mechanics to logistics teams on each base
* Coordinate the activities of the mechanics’ work assignments and review work to assure accuracy, completeness and compliance with Kit Log V3.1.
* Supervise and evaluate the performance of mechanics and closely monitor the performance of the drivers in collaboration with the Head of Base.
Objective 2 : Mission Fleet Planning and Maintenance
Activities:
* Audit the current state of the fleet/generators in our South Sudan mission.
* Regularly review/audit the state/management of the fleet and generators on base level and report to Log Co.
* Together with the Log Coordinator develop the fleet strategy / planning for the mission for 2012-2013.
* Evaluate mission vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair functions to identify needs, and ensure financial effectiveness and operational efficiency.
* Together with the Log Coordinator review the ongoing proposals and ensure that the strategy of fleet/generator procurement, maintenance, services, etc is adequately budgeted.
* Maintain working order and oversight of all vehicles on mission
* Supervise fleet and generator maintenance, servicing and repair work assuring compliance with Kit Log V3.1
* Ensure that the procurement of fleet/generators, spare parts and related services is done timely and in accordance with KLV3.1 and donor guidelines.
* Ensure that all vehicles are adequately equipped with proper recovery and emergency kits as well as with necessary safety features and parts.
* Provide technical support with regards to maintenance and repairs to Heads of Bases and their log teams.
* Implement other fleet/generator management activities in line with the present JD and strategy selected in Objective 2.
Objective 3: Stock management
Activities:
* Ensure proper storage and organization of fleet/generator- related items
* Monitor fuel quality and storage facilities to assure compliance with Kit Log V3.1 and environmental standards.
* Supervise the management of the fuel and spare parts stock for fleet/generators in the capital and ensure the adequate spare part stock management on base level.
* Receive, review, and consolidate the monthly spare part stock report for all the field bases; provide feedback to Log Co and Heads of Bases.
Objective 4: Meetings & Reporting
Activities:
* Participate in the weekly logistics meeting at the capital/base level.
* Organise meeting with drivers and mechanics regarding technical issues.
* Ensure proper communication between HoBs and LogCo regarding all issues related to the vehicles.
* Receive, review and consolidate all fleet/generator reporting and prepare monthly mission-level report in accordance with KLV3.1
Objective 5: Field Assessment/ Security
Activities:
* Conduct road assessments on the road network in ACF operational areas in the field and nd accordingly routes and appropriate driving techniques.
Education and special skills:
* Experience working in humanitarian relief/development sector in the position.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills.
* Resourceful and dynamic.
* Good communication and writing skills in English.
* Experience in reporting and planning.
* Diploma in auto-mechanic or related field
* Must have thorough knowledge in diesel & petrol engine operation and maintenance; knowledge in motorcycle/quad engineoperation and maintenance a plus
* At least 2 years practical experience in fleet management.
* Good working knowledge on Computer, particularly Word and Excel Computer skills.
* Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
